Naruto
Naruto is an anime series from Japan, based on an original Shonen jump Manga. It is about a 12 (ish) year old trainee ninja, with a thirst to proove himself to the people of his village, who blame him for the death of the village champion (the Hokage, or "fire-shadow"), who sacricifed himself to seal a deamon into the new-born Naruto's body. Naruto's ambition is to proove himself by becoming the village's new champion.
Oz
An HBO series about the inmates of "Em city", an experimental wing of the Ozwald maximum security penitentiary. THe story features a shifting cast (as they escape, are killed, excecuted, and even in a few cases, are released!) of inmates and staff, based around a number of tribes - The Homeboys, Latinos, Mafia, Gays, Arians, Muslims, Irish and the "others". It's a fantastic, if often brutal, drama, with some great story telling and characers, but is hard to track down in shops in the UK.
Shadowrun
A rollplaying game and story setting. Shadowrun is set in a near future cybergothic setting, where big corporations have taken over a version of the real world where magic has returned, and a variety of human races (Orks, Elves, Dwarves, Trolls, etc) have expressed from deeply burried DNA coding, and characters find ways to make money as mercinaries, hitmen, and corporate sponsored "problem solvers". I've always loved the idea of the setting, and the novels in particular!
