Only a few hours of this madness left.
I was wondering about the title of the Magnetic Fields' album 'i.' First I was thinking that it was the square root of -1 and I was like ... i is a number that appears in physics a lot. Magnetic fields appear in physics. So i probably appears in magnetic fields. But then I was like ... 'maybe it's the pronoun. maybe the lowercasing suggests an ironic diminution of the self' ...
word for unspoken word, 'an ironic diminution of the self' is what went through my head ... Sometimes the things I think/say sound almost absurdly like they're from a book, probably one that has at least three ism's or ist's in the title: Saturday Night Live Intellectualism: Subversive Sharpening of Irony and Analysis in an Age of Corporate Commercialism ...
By the way, every song on 'i' begins with 'I,' so perhaps I'd go with my second theory ... although I really can't be bothered to revisit General Physics II and check out the first theory.
