Saw the Getty Museum, which I've wanted to see for six years, ever since reading about it in an SAT interpretive passage ... somehow I had the idea that it was contemporary art, but quite the opposite, it was everything from Greek and Roman sculpture to Renaissance painting to Baroque furniture and early-twentieth-century photography. I swear the Monet painting with the bridge and the lily pads was at the Tate Modern and the National Gallery in London. Mostly the highlight about the Getty turned out to be the architecture of the buildings themselves, so light-shot and gravity-defying that you feel like you're soaring above the city.

Also got to hang out at the Santa Monica pier, the one with the amusement park right on the water. Rode a ferris wheel for the first time in my whole life. Kissed at the top, overlooking miles of Santa Monica shoreline, misty Santa Monica mountains and brilliant blue-green ocean. Ah, my life is splendor.

Spent an afternoon at another beach in Hermosa City(?), got a lovely tan, got to tease Bri mercilessly about his pigmentational disadvantages ...

Spent a whole day at Universal Studios, never been there before even though I've been to Six Flags LA twice ... had a blast, decided never to grow up ... and also to get the soundtrack to The Blues Brothers, when my months of ascetisicm are up ...

Also gorged myself, wandered into tons of nifty shops, oh! saw A Scanner Darkly, which was really good if depressing ... and generally just had a wonderful time being with Brian.

the boy i love
