Posting now b/c I probably wont be for a while
My computer is kaput. I'm at my mom's right now and have spent over an hour catching up on past entries from you all.
Anyway Logan has his pump now! Finally! He got it on Thursday and so far things are okay with us familiarizing ourselves with it but Logan's sugars are aways low. There is an adjutment period where we will find out the right dose to give him for his basal rate.
So far we are all lovin it. Huge freak out by Logan when it came down to the time to actually have the pump put in. He screamed and cried loud enough for people to hear in New Zealand. But understandibly so, he's only 5 and a bit freaked out by a machine that is hooked up to you. Once we got it in he screamed that it was hurting, "take it out, take it out!" for about 15 min then got distracted by Scooby Doo stuff in the clinic and all was good. Steph did great with hers, cool as a cucumber, and in fact is more advanced than 6 blumbering adults (meaning us) in understanding how the pump works and what buttons to press.
Friday morning, Logan bounded into our bedroom saying how much he loves his pump. Realizing a poke every 3 days compared to about 5 plus needles a day made him very happy. And can you belive he's understanding the pump too? We let him see what we are doing when giving him a bolus, and he is starting to recognise certain words on the screen.
It's awesome, that's all I can say. I'm very happy. We all are.
As for my computer, first we need to conjur up some money to fix it or get a new one. For now, I'll try to use other's computers to stay in touch.
