I guess I'll make a quick update post. Havent for awhile.
ToTo I'm not in Canada anymore, there are no white people lol
I now live in a suburb of Washington DC called Silver Springs it borders the state line to Maryland so that is my state of technical residence.
I can't tell you enough how different the way of life is here compared to canada. I kind of feel like telling everyone back home if they think they have it rough try living in the conditions these people in this part of the world live. It would be a huge lifestyle and culture shock for anyone back home. I know I certainly am going through one. But its nice to experience something different for once and it feels that from living where I was living in Canada I was wearing rose-tinted glasses. Now their off and I see what reality for alot of people is. I am not too bad off, I live in a so called middle class apartment community. Which would be considered poor in canada. Standards of living are much higher in Canada then they are here. If you have a car that isnt a lowrider or immigrant transporting van your more then well off lol. It's kind of funny and frustrating that in Canada I can walk anywhere, leave my door unlocked, and pretty much feel freedom and smell clean air wherever I go. Here you have the lung filling smell of cockroach killer spray, the smell of mexican, asian, and fried foods wherever you go. I can't walk alone without pepper spray, why you ask, because for some reason I'm prime rib to the wolves to men out here. Blonde hair, blue eyes, and a decent rack is something I guess these men only see in the movies. I often feel sexually disturbed because of the things and noises they make at me. The other day me and reed went for a walk to blockbuster and this car pulled up and asked my husband HOW MUCH FOR THE BROAD, he though reed was my pimp lmfao I almost died laughing. I fall asleep to the sound of sirens and the thudding of base from rap or "fiesta" mexican music lol la coockaraaaaacha la cooooockarachaaaa daaaaaa nanannananaaaa lol
Now to the good parts, because I like to see the better parts of living here then always focusing on the good.
I do live in a nice neighbourhood compared to many many others everyday I can look out my window and see nice trees and flowers and there is a lil park for kids to play in right outside my balcony (im on the 2nd floor) and watch the kids play. Sometimes I buy bags of candy and I'll throw the candy to the lil mexican/black/asian kids from the balcony. Everynight when reed goes to his car for work the little kids still out playing past sunset chase him chanting "mr soldier man mr solider man are you a hero? do you have a gun? do you save the world?" its so sweet hehe. The food here is interesting, but the portions are huge so ive packed on 5 or so pounds, no wonder why child obeisity is an epidemic here lol time to hit the gym lol. I'm learning about all sorts of cultures and ways of life that it feels like youll never see unless youve been to vancouver, which I have been, goto chinatown and ya you'll see what I mean. Besides the streets there are sooo many beautiful parks, this whole tri-state area (virginia/DC/Maryland) is like a huge national park, I'm an hour away from the Pacific ocean, 10 mins from the whitehouse and other significant landmarks, close to walter reed medical center (where the hurt soldiers from iraq go for to for surgery n stuff) I hope to be able to volunteer there some day when reed is at work, I'll sit with the military wives and help them cope with their loses or pray for their husbands to make it through surgery. I do that on the base reed is one which is the Bethesda Naval Medical Center, sometimes they get sent there too and I'll go sit with soldiers, sailors, and marines who lost limbs and stuff and read to them n stuff. There is alot of fun things to do, especially if you love big city living.
Jon and Jen said they are saving up to fly down here to visit, which is gonna be fun, there is an amusement park called Kings Domain (6 flags) and its way bigger and better then cedar point, and I'll take them to the ocean, white river rafting maybe, to the whitehouse and the pentagon, to some parks, and to the navy yard. I'll show them around the bases and show them war stuff. Not to mention all the underground clubs down here, jen is gonna love the punk scene all her fav bands do shows here pretty much weekly. But they will have fun, hopefully I don't scare them with the bad stuff in my post but im just being honest, and for them not to worry they will be safe lol
If anyone is interested I'm going home in july for 3 weeks for the Cabo Wabo Tequilla festival ft. Sammy Hagar with my brother and to get check up and surgery cuz I found out while I was down here that I have 5 or 6 cysts on my Ovaries. They say I can still have kids thank god, But because I dont have a social security number here yet they wont allow me to see a specialist so I have to go home to see one and get I believe just one them removed.
So anyways, if anyones interested in hanging out during that time and wants to make plans just give me a shout out.
If anyone wants to call me message me and I got an adress and phone number if you want me to call you I have free long distance to canada on my phone so just pass me along your number.
I hope everyone out there is doing well. I gotta do laundry now lol Ahh the life of a navy wife its a busy hard working one.
Love
Andrea
