I'm trying to sort out my major, biased, because-I'm-crazy issues with Remus/Tonks. Objectively, I approve of it because the man deserves some happiness, but, er, I can't help but also be very, very much with the moping.
I agree with the serious lack of Sirius. (Ba'dum'chh! Hah, I have no shame.) I really, really missed hearing about him, and was definitely expecting his presence -- or, well, absence -- to be felt so much more in this book. I was really surprised that there was no talk between Lupin and Harry, too -- I'd assumed one would happen and was really looking forward to it, so that was disappointing. Also, it seemed almost OOC for Lupin not to try to talk to Harry about it, but he did seem to be really unwell and weary during the book, so I guess that's a reasonable excuse as to why he didn't.
I can't think about the Snape thing for too long because it makes my brain hurt. I have no idea what to think -- I keep jumping back and forth with him.
Ooh, I thought the HBP was Lily too. For some reason, Snape never even crossed my mind. Which is . . . really rather stupid of me in retrospect, but hey, I figure Jo'd be happy that I was completely in the dark the whole time. ;-)
The Tom Riddle backstory and Draco characterization were handled so well in this.
If Remus dies . . . oh, gosh, I don't know. Jo confirmed in an interview recently that Wormtail won't kill him, though, so that's reassuring, because that was always how I thought he'd kick the bucket if he did.
Lots of H/Hr shippers are apparently proclaiming that both Hermione and Harry were under the influences of love potion during HBP, hence the R/Hr and H/G shippage. To which I say . . . well, poor dears. 'Cause their ship? Really, really got smooshed. Like, a lot.
