I've only been at camp for about 10 days and I feel like I've been gone for about a month. It's been really tough and the kids have only been here since Wednesday. But everyone is so incredibly great. I got to get to know a lot of the other counselors for the week of orientation and training and they are all wonderful. We have counselors from all over the world- Poland, South Africa, England/Scotland, and all over the US.
It's really hard work... I live in a cabin with 8 sixth graders and one other counselor. That's 10 girls in one small cabin. Tough. The girls are so sweet, though, and as hard as it's going to be I can't help but love them. I'm teaching swimming so I'll be in the sun all day (already burned) but at least most of the kids are happy to be there. It's an exhausting job, though, being outside all day, on my feet and whatnot. I have an evening off (6 hrs) and a day off (24 hrs) each week, so that helps. And I'm already looking forward to my break in the city. Jazzy- call me and leave me a message!! I can't wait to see you!! Angela- did you buy plane tickets??? I better get to see you too!!
I miss everyone so much. I'm going through a tough homesick stage right now. I'm hoping it will wear off soon cause it does not feel good. I miss my family and friends so much and it's really hard to think about how long it will be until I see them/you all again. I don't know when I'll get a chance to get on here again, but please leave me comments or messages on the facebook (or my phone). I'd LOVE to hear from all of you and hear what's going on.
Lots of love from NY :)
