summer time...

Jul 27, 2009 15:30

it's all BBQ's and arts and crafts. lol. It's been nice here lately.. in the high eighties during the day..and high sixties during the night. We've been able to turn the air off at night.. which wonderful..not only from the perspective of our energy bill.. but there's just nothing like fresh air.

We've ordered the wood and roofing materials and they will be delivered in two days.. Patio construction starts on Thursday with making router jigs to mill the wood to fit the brackets we put in the cement slab. We are getting bigger posts than we had thought we were getting so the brackets are too small. It's so exciting. It's going to be so wonderful. We are making it exactly the way we want it.. and there doesn't seem to be a lot of people who share or understand our.. decorative aesthetics.... but who cares about them anyway. I like rustic.. I like old. .. I like wood and metal. I want to hear the rain on the metal patio roof. I should start looking for a ceiling fan for out there. God I love to shop.

My old neighbor of 16 years.. is visiting from the other coast.. She moved a few years back but comes to our side of the country because her family is here.. Luckily I get to see her. It's good to see her. I wish she would join me here on livejournal. I've tried. :) We went for sushi today.. it was great.

My uncle dropped by also. He's back from Europe with tales of adventure.. as usual. He still works once a week.. commutes to our town.. as he lives near Carmel. ... and it's quite a drive over two coastal ranges.. to get here. He's was born in 36 so he's getting up there in age. I hope I am that active and able! Always good to see him.

We've been packing in so much stuff into every minute of the day and night. It's been just hectic. No time for the things that need doing. No vacations planned!!!! much to my chagrin.
Husband works two more days after today and he's got his seven in a row off.. and we expect to be sawing and painting and drilling and probably bitching at each other.. and then quelling our bitchiness with food and drink. .. for the duration. Hopefully we will be near completion at the end, but I think that's just wishful thinking as we are both slow and fairly meticulous in our construction processes. ... and this will be our first post and beam construction as well as metal roofing installation.

I plan on documenting it via film... so be prepared for a lengthy post and pictures. I hope anyone who reads this is doing well and I am sorry I haven't been around much lately. ... and no I really don't think anyone has missed me... but...
Free time finds me busier than ever....
