[a typical sonnet with 3 quatrains and a couplet; written in abab cdcd efef gg, with 10 syllables in each line]
the lonely ones
I fall quietly like a dying bird,
slipping away, let go of my weak hand.
My speech is slow, my empty words are slurred,
wont you go strike up the funeral band?
Find happiness in my old dressing room,
search for my body and inhale my soul.
Gather a group of dead flowers in bloom,
heave up the eath and throw them in the hole.
My eyes are black stones glaring at the sky,
as it sends soft rain to my smiling face.
Stuck in this silence ringing with a cry,
smoke a dreary cigarette in my wake.
Soon you will dance in the laughing sea,
until you reach the shore don't forget me.
A/N: if anyone is interested I could write a commentary about what each stanza means and my overall theme.. or you could guess ;)
edit::: face & wake don't really rhyme. but i'm lazy.
