Parent teacher conferences are almost over (all mine are over tomorrow, unless any get rescheduled - hope not!), and not a moment too soon. My voice really can't take much more of the hours of constant talking. I'm a quiet person! My vocal chords, I've come to realize, physically can't handle me talking a lot. Which is kind of weird, and a slightly difficult problem for a teacher.
Most of the conferences have been good, though - no rough "Your child is failing and is a behavioral nightmare!" kind of meetings. And because I am very emotionally needy, I also like hearing from parents that their child enjoys my class and that they (parents) are pleased with the job I'm doing.
Except for the last conference of the day, where the parents came in, sat down, and glared at me during my whole spiel. And then continued to glare at me after I stopped. So I gave up on talking to them and made faces at the toddler they brought until the baby laughed, and apparently Mom and Dad decided I wasn't the Anti-Christ. It was a very odd conference.
In other news, I've heard-tell of a belly dance performance on November 29th, from 7-8:30pm at The Source. I'm going to head over to see what all the fuss is about. I've heard it's more urban-style belly dance, but it should be cool to watch. Mostly, because I don't think I've ever seen a male belly-dancer perform before. Coolness!
