I was just listening to Nick Cave's rendition of Pulp's "Disco 2000" when it hits me - his voice does just drip murderous intent, doesn't it? He doesn't sound like he's trying to spin the song - in a way, he really just sounds like he's trying his best to keep up with the tempo! But intentionally or not, when he wraps those vocal chords around "you didn't notice me at all", where Jarvis Cocker always sounded like a hurt puppy, Nick Cave sounds like if you didn't notice him pretty darn soon, he'll put an axe through your spine, and your families' spines, and your pets' spines, and your mailman's spine, and so on and so forth.
