Timeline/Setting: Set about couple years after Chosen and a pretty much any time during the series for Magnum.

“Where have you been with the Ferrari Magnum?”
Stepping out of the spot car Thomas Magnum turned to where Higgins was walking out of the large house. “I had to pick someone up from the airport.”
“Magnum.” Higgins sighed, “The car is not for your use to pick up women at the airport for sport. Who have you brought home today?”
Mangum stared at Higgins over the car.
“What?”
“I picked up Dr. Dawn Summers from the airport she asked if she could stay at my place while she is on the island studying something that she has explained to me twice and I still don't understand. And Dr. Summers is my niece.” He explained to the slightly deflated Higgins. “She is also more of a cat person and would prefer to be introduced to the dogs later.”
“I will let you two get settled and you will bring her to the house for dinner so I can meet her?” Higgins offered as an apology.
“That sounds great. Thank you. Also thanks for letting me stay here.” Dawn said opening the car door and stepping out.
“You're welcome. Perhaps you can share what you will be studying over dinner.” Higgins said before turning toward the house.
Knowing it was only said to annoy him Magnum shouted, “Ah Higgins, not again!”
“Come on Dawn. Let's get you unpacked and you can put up what ever protections you want to but I don't know if there are any vampires on the island.”
Flabbergasted Dawn started to talk a few times before words managed to come out, “How why Thomas!”
“Between your thesis, the people you said you wanted to talk to, and the things they said when I asked them for appointments for you added up to the night life that went bump.”
“You don't think I'm crazy and you still are want me to stay?” Dawn asked shocked he had figured it and and at his reaction. There would be time later for how he was aware of the bump night life.
“You're family Dawn. Of course I want you here.”
