Title: Gumby Hunter
Author: Vashti (tvashti)
Fandom: My Girlfriend is a Gumiho
Character(s): Buffy, Dawn

Length: ~670
Disclaimer: Only the words are mine, and that’s probably up for philosophical debate.
Dedication: for kaekae on tth who gave me this idea over a year ago!
Notes: Um, it’s sort of related to my other k-drama inspired story The Girl Who Didn’t Know...", which doesn’t have to be read to understand this. I’m not even sure you need to have seen MGIG to get this but I’m sure it wouldn’t hurt.

"Buffy!"

The blonde threw her hands out, mirroring her sister. "Dawn!"

Who rolled her eyes.

"Hey, I wasn’t the one who going for Miss Excitability Of The Year."

"Fine, I won’t share my awesome news with you." Crossing her arms under her breasts, Dawn turned away from the camera. "See if I care."

"Oh come on, Dawn," Buffy said, unconsciously mimicking her sister’s pose this time. "We’re not going to waste a perfectly good Skype session on pettiness are we?"

"I wasn’t the one who started it?"

"Me?!"

"Yes, you!" Dawn said, turning back to the screen.

"How did I--" Buffy’s eyes drifted down and to the right as she gnawed on her lower lip. "Okay. Maybe I started it. But, hey, Big Girl Buffy is also willing to end it."

"So that means you’ll apologize?"

"So that means I get to bring up the Amalfi Coast?"

"Good point." The sisters nodded to each other, silently agreeing to let bygones be bygones-at least until their Skype session was over. Dawn frowned. "I lost all my momentum. Not," she quickly interjected, "that that’s anyone’s fault. It’s just a thing that’s happened."

Smiling, Buffy uncrossed her arms. "What’s going on in Korea that’s got you all eager beaver at...what time is it there?"

"About two in the morning."

"Thirteen hours off, right?"

"Yup."

Buffy nodded. "Yeah, two in the morning. It’s a little before one, here. So what’s the what, Dawnie? Any progress with that hot guitar player who’s pining for his out-of-the-country older girlfriend?"

"Uh..." Dawn’s eyes got big and rolled up towards the ceiling, as her own arms dropped from across her chest. "I’m still working on it, but there might be progress."

"Nice, nice."

"I feel a little guilty, though. He was really into his g/f before she left."

"I thought you said they’d broken up."

"Yeah, but apparently that was all Lee Shin Young. Min Jae was so not down."

Buffy frowned. "Hmm, that could be a tough one. To pursue or not pursue, that is the question."

Nodding, Dawn said, "On the other hand, I’ve got a pursuit for you, and that’s why I called. You have got to come to Korea!"

"For a guy?"

"For a gumiho!"

"For a gumby ho? Um, Dawnie, honey, not only does that sound really kinky, but I’m pretty sure this is a conversation we should be having like, oh, never."

Rolling her eyes and shaking her head, Dawn said, "Not a gumby ho, but a gumiho."

"So he or she likes to sex up gelatin teddy bears? This is better how exactly?"

Dawn growled. "There is none with the sexing. And, yes, this is a conversation that we should never have! A gumiho is a Korean nine-tailed fox demon--"

"That must make sitting tough."

"--who takes the form of a beautiful young woman to seduce men and then eat their livers."

"Oh, ew." Buffy recoiled from her laptop. "That sounds pretty high on the disgusting list."

"Yeah, it totally is," Dawn said looking not at all disturbed. "There used to be more in the olden days, but they’re pretty rare on the ground now. Except I’m pretty sure I saw one on campus the other day."

"In broad daylight?"

"With a guy!"

"And that didn’t make the nightly news? Aren’t you in one of Korea’s biggest cities?"

Dawn nodded. "Like New York or Toronto or London but with way more lights. Like, way."

"So how many slayers do you think you’ll need to take down this gumby ho?"

Dawn started protest her sister’s mispronunciation, but shook her head and let it go. "Actually, we’re probably okay."

"But you just said--"

"So, like, gumihos are a known problem in Korea? And it turns out they have their own demon hunters to deal with them. Usually guys."

Buffy sat back and blinked a few times. "Oh. Um, so...why do you need me to come to Korea again?"

"Because this demon hunter is hot! And you could definitely do with some action."

"DAWN!"

AN2: For the tag needed, I highly suggest using "k-dramas" because, as a genre, k-dramas are both ridiculously prolific (new one starts every 2-3 months) and have a very diverse fanbase. The options, they are many. But if you'd prefer to list this under the specific fandom, MGIG is the accepted and well-known abbreviation for this show among drama fans.
