Stepping out of his beat up amazing off road Africa tackling car Xander stretched and tired to remember what food he had left from the last village he was in. Reaching into the front seat for his hat Xander’s hand closed around something that was not his hat.
Twinkie.
One individual wrapped yellow cake with creamy middle. In the middle of the African desert.
“Hi Xander.”
Clark Kent was sitting on the top of Xander’s car reading a book.
“Hi Clark. Good to see you. How ya doing? And what are you doing sitting on my car?” Xander said unwrapping his twinkie.
“Mom said she wanted to have you over for dinner and she gave me the look that meant I had better do what she wants or I would regret it.” Clark answered.
“So you took off to find me. Thanks for bringing me a twinkie. How long is it till dinner?” Xander said looking forward to Martha’s cooking.
“When ever we show up. Do you have plans for today? If you want I can bring your car with us or leave it here.”
“I’m good to leave now.” Xander said.
“Mom we’re here.” Clark called out as they walked into the house before he saw the note Martha left saying she ran to the grocery store. “You know where the bathroom is and the towels are in the same place.”
“Thank you! I love water heaters and running water.” Xander said as he dashed upstairs.
When the shower started Martha emerged from the pantry she had ducked into. “Do you think he’s figured out what’s going on?”
“He doesn’t have a clue.” Clark answered giving his mom a hug.
“Good. Now get to decorating. It’s his birthday and we’re going to throw him a party. Lunch is cooking and I want to get his presents wrapped before he's out of the shower." Martha said pushing Clark outof the kitchen.
