Summary: In which visitors show up at Dr. Strange's Sanctum Sanctorum.
Over the next few days, they fell into a comfortable routine.
It turns out, without the threat of impending doom, the Lokis and Buffy were not early risers. Granted, that could also be because the door to their room was barricaded, as America found out one morning when she went to visit them, only avoiding the axe by jumping through the multiverse.
After that, it was an unspoken agreement that nobody opened the door when it was shut. Safety first.
Mostly, their days were filled with ordering takeout (Dr. Strange still could not believe how much food Buffy could eat), training at Kamar-Taj with Wong (with Alligator Loki spooking a number of other sorcerers), and America and Buffy shopping with Christine (who was still in shock that Stephen Strange of all people was housing them).
Overall, it was a relatively quiet view days, except for the fact that Dr. Strange found one shoe missing every morning. He assumed Alligator Loki was the culprit, as it seemed like the creature laughed at him everytime Dr. Strange passed with only one shoe.
Kid Loki’s smirk strengthened that theory.
Shoes notwithstanding, it seemed everyone was adjusting to the new world they found themselves.
Of course, tranquility could only last a short while.
On an inconsequential Tuesday, a knock echoed from the front door. All of them started a bit at the sound, and Dr. Strange was the first to move from the library to the front door. Reaching the door, he opened it to find four people at the doorstep; three quite unfamiliar to him, but the fourth…
She was clearly an older version of the Buffy in the library.
“Well,” he said after a moment of silence, “This is going to be interesting.”

Something about this trip was unnerving Buffy.
Ever since the Scythe activated and gave them the coordinates of the newly called Slayer, there was something bothering her. It was like an itch at the back of her neck that she could not scratch.
Willow, Giles, and Faith picked up in her anxiety, and as they neared the address of the Slayer, the tension between all of them was thick enough to cut with a knife. That tension only escalated as they neared Dr. Strange’s abode. None of them were particularly happy about revealing their world to an Avenger, especially one as strong as Dr. Strange, but the need to make sure the new Slayer understood her powers overrode all else.
As the door opened, revealing Dr. Strange, Buffy instantly went on guard when recognition - as well as resignation - crossed his face when his eyes lit onto hers.
There was no reason the sorcerer should recognize her and, exchanging a look with the others, they stepped into his mansion at his gesture.
“We hate to impose on you, Dr. Strange,” Giles started politely, “But we, er, we run a very specialized school - “
“Giles?”
As one, their heads snapped to the sound of the eerily familiar voice, to see three teenagers and - was that an alligator? - walking out of a nearby room. Buffy blanched and stumbled back at the familiar blonde walking hesitantly towards them, her eyes focused on Giles, shining with unshed tears.
“Okay, what the hell?” Faith said, immediately falling into defensive stance, Buffy following as anger started to overwhelm the shock. How did they have a double of her here?
“What magic have you been dabbling with, Dr. Strange?” Willow asked, her voice cold, her hair going white as her hands started crackling with power. “I felt the hint of a dark power rising, but it was diminished before I had the chance to explore it. What are you hiding? What dark magic created this?”
“What?” the younger double of Buffy whispered, shaking her head, “No, that’s not it. I - “
Her voice broke as tears overflowed her eyes and slid down her face. Immediately, the alligator growled and took a few menacing steps towards them. The other teenage girl fell into a defense stance of her own, one fist held strongly in front of her face.
Yet, their reactions slipped past everyone’s attention as the last member of the group, the boy with the horned helmet, seemed to radiate with fury. “How dare you accuse us of manipulating magic so. You don’t deserve your powers, witch, if you are willing to threaten without the chance of an explanation.”
He raised his hands and suddenly, they found themselves surrounded by copies of him, copies of the alligator, each of them moving on their own accord, sneering, smiling, frowning, all of them blocking their view of the others. Buffy’s eyes widened as she found herself unable to distinguish which was the real versions and which was the fake.
“Willow…” she started, only to be interrupted by the witch.
“I can’t…” Willow started, her hair taking on a white glow as she reached out towards the copies, Faith taking a step forward towards one of the alligators with a growl of her own.
Before any of them could make their move, a giant golden circle appeared and Dr. Strange stepped through it, putting his hands up in a calming gesture. “I think all of us need to take a step back. I think all of us require explanations of some sort and to do so, we all just need to calm down.”
“Yes, I agree,” Giles said, straining to see around the copies of the boy, “I think we all need a little clarity on this situation.”
“Listen to him,” came the voice of the younger Buffy called and suddenly, just as easily as the copies of the boy and alligator appeared, disappeared to leave just the small group visible to the visitors. “I think…I think we all need to talk. There’s a lot to explain.”
