Stories about Slayer-Watcher bonds always tug at my heartstrings. This one is no exception. Glad you didn't go with the cliche of having it be the language guy. I love Daniel, but I prefer Jack for this.

Thanks. It, honestly, never crossed my mind to use Daniel. Buffy would need a watcher who could teach her to fight and strategize. That's definitely O'Neill.

As many resources as the Watchers have, they don't put the Slayer and her survival/victory first. They're a nice resource, but not as a guiding hand. At least in my opinion.

Jack would be the perfect Watcher for what Buffy has to face in terms of strategy and martial training. I’m glad you had the Cruciamentum be the final straw for him. The alternate timeline his presence could create would, I hope be better for both of them.
