Parking his truck in the driveway of a larger than expected house Jack looked around as he got out. Hearing noise from the behind the house he decided to look there first instead of trying the door.
All of SG-14 was in the backyard, a small above ground pool was next to a large fire pit with flames impressively large.
“Jack!”
Hearing his name Colonel Jack O’Neil looked to the corner of the yard near a door to the house.
“Come on we have fire, soda, and will soon have food!”
“Didn’t you all just get back from a trip?” Jack asked pretty sure he remembered seeing SG-14 on the roster of post long mission long weekend off duty.
Riley held out a bag of chips after Steve handed Jack one of the cold soda’s out of the cooler. “Sure did. 8 days of sand, sand, a lot of wind, and more sand.”
“And no injuries!” Travis hollered as he stood up and wiggled a bit in a short dance.
“No injuries and Violet makes us dinner and we don’t have to clean up when we’re done.” Riley explained to the confused colonel. “Lemme guess, you’re here wondering who that was a the picnic last week”
“How’d you guess?” Jack said opening the soda can still dripping from the ice water in the cooler.
“She said Ryan wanted her boss to be there. Since I knew she meant President Ryan I figured he would haved called a boss of yours asking how the meeting went and if there was anything to worry about.”
“You’ve got it figured out. How much and many weird and crazy are they so that there isn’t overlap between what we do and what she does? And how sure of that are you?”
“Jack, go with ignorance is bliss. For Colonel O’Neil, trust that if any of us suspect at all that there is any hint of overlap we will immediately report it to you and her and someone will be calling the president at that point.’ Riley said as the door to the house opened and a woman’s voice yelled out food’s ready. “You’re welcome to stay for dinner and smores later if you want.”
“That sounds good. Thanks.”
