“G! Man. What happened to your eye?” Sam asked, rising from his desk and walking over to his partner who was sporting a very impressive black eye. A soft snort from behind the injured man drew Sam's attention to the petite blonde. “Buffy,” he greeted.

“Sam,” she returned, stepping around the two men and heading toward Hetty's area.

“Your eye?” Sam prompted.

“It's nothing,” G deflected resulting in a chuckle from Buffy. “It's nothing!” he repeated more loudly at his sister's back.

Hetty suddenly appeared from her office and started heading toward them, causing Buffy to turn and follow. After examining G's black eye, she turned toward Buffy, “Miss Summers, did we not have an agreement about the condition of my agents?”

“It wasn't me, Hetty,” Buffy offered. “It was the other Miss Summers and she's not covered by the agreement.”

Hetty turned toward G once more and narrowed her eyes slightly at him. “What did you do?”

“I didn't do anything!” G denied.

“He went all big brother on her,” Buffy supplied, laughter evident in her voice.

“Big brother as in she's his little sister or Big Brother as in 1984?” Sam asked for clarification.

“As in she's his little sister,” Buffy clarified.

“Your little sister gave you that, G? Damn, remind me not to make her mad. I've seen hired thugs who don't leave a bruise like that,” Sam teased.

“Ha-ha, funny man,” G retorted. “It's not like you won't do the same once Kamran starts dating.”

Sam's smile disappeared immediately. “Now, wait. Don't you even go talking about my baby girl dating. She's”

“Already looking at boys so it's only a matter of time,” G pointed out with a smile.

“As interesting as this is, gentlemen, what, precisely, did you do to incite your youngest sister to physical violence, Mr. Callen?” When G stumbled over his own tongue and failed to form intelligible words, Hetty turned to Buffy. “Miss Summers.”

Buffy smiled widely.

“I found out about her date,” G interjected quickly, not trusting his sister to tell the tale without making him look ridiculous. “I did a background check on the guy and didn't like everything I found so I may have been at the apartment when he picked her up.”

Buffy's smile grew wider and she snickered.

“Went for the scare tactics?” Sam asked, nodding in approval.

“Hah,” Buffy blurted. “Tried for some intimidation, but trust me, any man who's going to date a Summers' woman needs to be made of pretty stern stuff.”

“I didn't try to intimidate him,” G denied. “I just had some questions and wanted to be sure we were on the same page with regard to his respect for my little sister.”

“And having your NCIS badge showing and your gun visible in its shoulder holster?” Buffy accused.

“I'd arrived straight from work and didn't have a chance to remove it yet,” G explained reasonably.

“Didn't have a chance to remove it in the hour and ten minutes you were there before the date arrived?” Buffy asked skeptically.

“Anyway, he seemed to understand and they left on their date,” G added, sounding as if he was finished.

“And that's why your sister hit you?” Hetty asked, clearly not believing that was all of it.

“Not even close,” Buffy muttered, earning her a glare from her brother.

“Mr. Callen?” Hetty encouraged.

“It was getting late. I was hungry,” Callen defended.

“You followed them to their dinner,” Hetty stated, her head shaking slightly.

“It's a good place. Complete coincidence that we chase the same place,” G explained.

The other three exchanged looks, not buying it for a second.

“The fact you had Eric get you past the password on Dawn's phone so you could read her texts had nothing to do with where you chose to eat,” Buffy added with and eyeroll.

Eyes widening as he darted a guilty glance at Hetty, he laughed casually, “I wouldn't do that. That would be against NCIS regulations.” Ignoring Buffy's muttered, “said it belonged to a suspected terrorist”, G added, “And anyway, it's not like I sat at their table.”

“Just next to it and glared at the date all night,” Buffy supplied.

“How did you...” G began before cutting himself off.

“Dawn told me while we were waiting for you to come around.”

“Come around?” Hetty asked, concerned.

Buffy shrugged. “Dawnie has a really good right hook and he hit his head on the ground. It's why I drove in today. He shouldn't be driving with a concussion no matter how mild.”

“A concussion, Mr. Callen?” Hetty's voice expressed concern, offense and possibly outrage. “And were you planning on informing us of this? You will have to see a doctor and get clearance to be here.”

“It's mild, Hetty. Three to ten days,” G soothed, reaching into the pocket of his computer case and pulling out the doctor's note.

“That still doesn't explain how you let her hit you,” Sam pointed out.

“That...” G began only to be cut off by Buffy once more. He could swear his sisters were trying to kill him or at least get him in so much trouble he wished he was dead.

“Happened at the apartment when the date tried to walk Dawn to the door only to be chased off by good old G here. Of course, the lingering anger over the incident at the movies may have also come into play.”

“Movie?” Sam asked.

G held up his hands. “I needed something to do. It's not like there was a game on or anything.”

“Or like you have a television to watch even if there was,” Sam added, a smile appearing on his face as the idea of what happened started to dawn on him.

“You sat right behind them, didn't you Mr. Callen?” Hetty inquired, her expression and tone stating she already knew the answers.

“It was a complete coincidence,” G deflected. “I always sit there, they just happened to sit in front of me.”

“Except they got there first and chose their seats, whereas you actually convinced a family of four to move so you could take the one behind them,” Buffy explained. “What you thought they'd get up to with a twelve year old and an eight year old sitting behind them I'm not entirely sure.”

“I... They... That's not the point,” Callen denied. “I was just there to see the movie and she completely overreacted.”

“When you crawled over the back of the chair and practically sat on her date, forcing him to move one seat away because he tried to put his arm around Dawnie,” Buffy clarified, arms crossing in front of her chest.

“So she hit you at the movie theater?” Sam asked.

“No, she hit him in the parking lot of our apartment when he pulled in and practically hit them because he 'forgot' something in the apartment that he needed for work today,” Buffy supplied.

“What did you forget?” Sam asked.

“My ID,” G offered quickly.

Buffy looked at Hetty. “He still had it visibly on him,” she offered in an aside. “Anyway, when he started to shove himself between the two of them, the date finally had enough, apologized to Dawn, and walked away. That's when she popped him.”

“And so would I have,” Hetty informed. “Mr. Callen. I know you are very new to being a big brother, but you need to realize that your sisters are adults and are more than capable of handling themselves.”

“Of course, Hetty,” he said, his voice sounding contrite.

Hetty and Buffy headed off together to do whatever it was they did. When they were safely out of hearing range, Sam asked quietly, “Need some backup next time?”

“If you wouldn't mind,” G replied just as softly.

“I got your back G,” Sam assured.

“And I'll have yours with Kam.”

End.
