Clint and Laura exchanged a look as their three small guests clung to their various parent. They didn't regret agreeing to keep the trio, especially because their boys were looking forward to having their “cousins” over for a visit. The adults all knew the five of them had been cooking something up among them, but the three who lived with the Avengers on base had taken to their training well enough that they were able to hide all evidence of their adventure - provided, of course, none of the adults looked too hard for the information.

Clint and Laura felt it was OK for their kids to have minor secrets; they trusted their boys not to let things get out of hand.

Callum was the unacknowledged leader of the small group of kids. Clint had seen the leadership abilities in both Buffy and Callum, but his son's age led him to being the natural leader among the kids right now. He trusted his son not to let them get too out of hand in their planning.

It was later that night as he went to let them know it was time for bed that he caught part of what they were saying. "But what about operational security?" Xander asked.

Clint blinked at that. The kid was about four and a half and he was wondering about operational security? Just what was he learning?

"We need them, Xand," Willow explained as patiently as she could. Apparently they'd had this discussion a few times. "We're going to have to read them in because it's, like, years before any of us can drive."

"But.." Xander began protesting.

"We'll make them pinky-swear," Buffy said, her voice definitive and brooking no argument.

"Mom and Dad can be trusted," Callum soothed. "The pinky-swear is a good idea, though, so they know the seriousness of the situation."

"Fine," Xander reluctantly allowed after a few seconds of silence. "When do we tell them?"

"How about now?" Clint asked, stepping into the room causing five small faces to turn toward him in various stages of surprise. Moving further into the room, he let his eyes begin to scan the materials laid out on the floor in the middle of the group. "What is this? A treasure hunt?"

"How did you know?" Willow asked, her voice filled with awe and her eyes wide in wonder.

Clint just blinked at her for a moment before deciding he needed backup. "Let me get Laura and we'll go over this together. Maybe at the kitchen table."

Clint smiled over at his softly laughing wife. They watched as the kids carefully measured the distances they needed and consulted the map they had drawn with notes. When asked why they were relying on paper, Willow reasonably pointed out that paper could travel anywhere, didn't require batteries and couldn't be hacked. Xander added that this way Friday wouldn't know. Clint didn't have the heart to tell them that Friday most likely had images of their notes recorded and could review them as needed.

"Hopefully this will be the last stop today," Clint said.

"They seem to think so," Laura agreed.

"Can you believe how far they've taken us. It's a good thing we were able to get them to tell us. They never would have been able to travel this far without us."

Laura reached over and rested a hand on his arm. "Honey, I think they may have it."

Before either of them could rise from their positions, the kids came running back toward them, Xander and Lewis going straight for the bag with the drone in it.

"What's up?" Clint asked, as he rose to help them set up the drone.

"We found the location, but we think there may be cave access from the cliff," Callum explained.

"That would be way easier than digging," Buffy added.

"I suppose it would," Laura agreed, rising to join the group as they moved to a more open space from which they could launch the drone.

With deft manoevering and some assisance corralling the under four-foot club, They soon were able to spot the entrance to a cave.

"Oh! We have to go down ther and explore!" Willow said excitedly.

"We'll need to bring some digging equipment just in case," Xander advised. "No telling if it goes back far enough."

"Whoa, there," Clint interrupted their plans. "None of you are going to go down there until I'm sure it's safe, and maybe not even then."

"But Uncle Bucky's been teaching us to repel," Buffy informed, her voice heading toward a whine.

"And Mom says it's an important skill, so we've been practicing," Xander added.

"And I'm well aware of what you've been teaching Callum and Lewis," Laura revealed, arms crossing across her chest and her expression letting him know they would be talking about it later.

"And I can't float myself yet, but Mom says it's important to know the non-magic way to do things too because magic isn't always the answer," Willow chimed in, not wanting to be left out.

Clint took a deep breath and let it out slowly. "We'll see," was all he was willing to offer. I will go down first and explore the cave. If, and only if, it is safe, I will take you down one at a time to look inside."

Wanting to protest, the kids held off their complaints, having already run across that particular expression before and knowing he wouldn't budge on this. They reluctantly agreed.

Twenty minutes later, Clint entered the cave. He was wearing a headset with a camera imbedded on it along with a powerful flashlight. The cave was larger than he thought once he got past the first five feet of the entrance, but still short enough he had to duck slightly.

"You should be coming to it soon, Uncle Clint," Willow advised.

"OK," Clint agreed, hoping the kids wouldn't be too disappointed if there was nothing there. It was an option he and Laura had discussed seeing that it was apparently put there over three hundred years before. They decided to deal with it when the issue arose.

What he absolutely was not expecting was to come around a slight bend in the cave tunnel and have it open up into a larger cave, one where various items of what would clean up to be gold, silver and who knew what else were neatly stacked. He froze at the sight even as the cheers of the children filled his ears. It was Buffy's, "Ew, it's so dirty," that snapped him out of his stupor. "So... What are your plans now that we found the treasure?" he asked. His question was met with silence.

"I hope they weren't any trouble," Steve said, as he refused to put down the small girl in his arms.

"Not at all," Laura assured with a smile.

"Did you have fun?" Wanda asked Willow.

"Sure did, Mom," Willow replied.

"Would you like to do this again?" Natasha asked her son.

"Yeah. It was great!" Xander enthused.

The looks exchanged among the five youngsters went unnoticed by the adults around them who were busy with their own conversation.

"Thank you again," Steve said, offering his hand to both Clint and Laura. "OK, let's get home. Some people will need to take a nap when we get there."

"Poor Daddy," Buffy cried dramatically. "The mission was so hard you have to take a nap! You rest up and I'll take care of everything else," she assured.

"You little imp," Steve teased as he turned to leave the house. "I was talking about you."

"But I'm not tired!" Buffy protested, her words immediately proven a lie as she let out a yawn.

Clint, Laura, Callum and Lewis just watched them leave. When they were gone and the boys had run off Laura asked, "So what are we going to do with all that treasure? Save it for later?"

"Hmm," Clint said thoughtfully. "We probably should keep some of it for when their grown, but getting some of it in currency wouldn't be a bad idea."

"And how are we going to do that?"

"I may know a guy..."
