Why why why why why are these kids unable to process the idea of A) asking for help BEFORE THE SEMESTER IS OVER and B) under the impression that this is acceptable behavior? The university and its classes are not an open-air market with goods with debatable prices. I really don't understand if this is a cultural difference thing, due to the fact that I teach at a university with a high immigrant population, or what. The problem too is that if I give them what they want, they'll go away and leave me alone. The other side of that problem is it bugs the shit out of my academic integrity.
I have thought of a snappy title for that blog post, however, if I were to get around to writing it.
In slightly less frustrating news, I actually got up within 12 minutes of my intended time, got the library in a timely manner, and have been making progress on the list. The 3rd ms of the 3 I told myself I'd do today just happens to be entirely digitized and 116ff long. With pictures that need at least marginal note-taking on freaking every page. Latin still remains to be done, as does more reading and dishes once I'm home. But! The BNF has a very, very useful book on Christine's autograph manuscripts, which I'm hoping will help me distinguish what's important from what's not.
I possibly have a date tonight via OKC, I need to prep something for the conversation class (we could talk about dating, but I think I'll save that for next week since it'll be V-day), and if the date falls through, it'll be nice to have an evening at home.
Still have to figure out what to do about these students though.
