Aheheheheh. Tonight has been interesting.

A few of you might know that when I moved back to the East Bay, I began renting a very nice in-laws' apartment from some family friends. My landlord and lady have to be the most awesome people I have ever given $800 a month to, and complete animal lovers. They have, among various and sundry other animals, about half a dozen goats.

A day or so ago, my landlord came over and told me that the mama goat and two of her kids had escaped their pen down into the ravine behind the house, and asked me to keep an eye out. Tonight, my father was driving me home after I did laundry at his place, and I saw three goats standing by the side of the road. Through some semi-coherent gibbering, I managed to communicate the situation to my father, and he pulled over so that I could give my landlady a call.

Now, if I was a smart person, I would have waited by the goats after she didn't answer her phone, while my dad went to fill them in and direct them back to me. I am not a smart person -- at least, not late at night when confronted with the dilemma of goats by the roadside.

Suffice it to say, I just spent the last hour and a half tromping through the tick- and spider- infested bushes, making goat noises at the top of my lungs and feeling like an extra in a horror movie. You know, the one at the very beginning, who wanders down the road yelling the name of her pet, only to find said pet horribly mutilated before dying a gruesome death, herself? Yeah, that. Eventually I got into the spirit of things, and started using a Southern accent, figuring that if I was going to be set upon by cannibals, I might as well sound the part.

Cue the dueling banjos, please.

Eventually, we found all three goats and, through a Series Of Events Which I Shall Not Relate, got them back to the house. I also ended up spending about five minutes locked in the front seat of an SUV with a panicked baby goat while both car alarm and goat screamed bloody murder. Good times.

Ah, and I actually thought I would get some studying done tonight.
