I was just reading an excerpt from La Vida es Sueno (Life is a dream) by Pedro Calderon de la Barca for my Literature class and I just loved it because of the truth that it speaks off. I'm putting up my favorite lines from it.
And living has taught me this
Man dreams the life that is his
And in all the world, I see,
Man dreams whatever he be
And his own dream no man knows,
And I too dream and behold
What is life? A tale that is told;
What is Life? A frenzy extreme,
A shadow of things that seem;
And the greatest good is but small,
That all life is a dream to all
And that dreams themselves are a dream.
It's easy for me to take a liking to these lines. I've always been a dreamer. Growing up alone does that to you. I've always felt that whatever I wanted to accomplish was just right there within my reach. Real life gutted me pretty hard last year when my dreams started to take a back seat. But the words of Kuwahara-senpai in Bambino still stick to me:
You have no right to talk about your dreams when you can't handle what's in front of you.
Not the exact words but close enough. Work hard to achieve dreams. That's pretty much the underlying principle isn't it?
I've been talking to various people about my future (makes it sound so conceited for some reason XD) and although the details have not been ironed out. We can't really plan the future now can we? There are certain things I'm going to push through with or give my best to push through with.
1. Finally move to Australia and become a citizen
2. Work in a magazine there (I don't care if I'm an editorial assistant I just want this to come true)
3. Take up my masters (I really want to study in University of Sydney taking up English or Creative Writing perhaps)
4. An exchange program in Japan at the same time
5. Work for a Japanese wire service or magazine (or maybe teach English or something XD)
All signs point to that direction right now.
And when I finished this entry the Disney song suddenly got stuck in my head.
*sings*Dream is a wish your heart makes... ^_^
