Childhood dreams die hard

Jun 14, 2006 01:13

As a kid I dreamed of going to the Air Force Academy and becoming a fighter pilot. Clearly I am not at the Air Force Academy. I had my shot and thanks to a discrepancy with my medical files made me ineligible. To think, if I had gone there I would've majored in military strategy. Through the Air Force Academy I could've become a pilot despite my vision and not my height (surprising I know). I suppose I could take flying lessons as a civilian...but that just doesn't compare to flying a fighter jet loaded with artillery.

Since my life's taken a different track from my childhood dream, the next best thing I can think of is signing up with either the Navy or the Air Force, most likely the Navy. I prefer being near large bodies of water and Navy bases tend to be on the coast. There's a program that would enable me to go to Med School and become a doctor, and if I were to get assigned to an aircraft carrier I'd be the resident doctor onboard.

This relevlation brought to you by the movie Top Gun.
