Dear God

Dear God,

"Bloodlust"
nationalistic scrawl
and, for good measure,
"Kill Them All"
promises of liberty
have all now been retracted.

for we,
as righteous "Christians," will
with blood
their streets and alleys fill;
hearts and minds refusing to be won
will be extracted.

strip him,
beat him, hood him, and
tape bits of wire
to his hand,
stand him on a box and tell him
death awaits his fall.

From New York
to Iraq and on,
human grace is nearly gone,
atrocities committed in Your Name
demean us all.
