We had a pretty low-key Christmas. Well, we had to. Haha.
We got up this morning and did presents. Josh got me a beautiful wool coat! It's the kind of coat I've been wanting for a long time. All I really had was a heavy ski coat and a light fleece jacket. I'm very happy about it. He did a good job.
Josh cooked us some breakfast on the new griddle thing I got him. He loves cooking, especially breakfast. It has two round parts so you can make perfect pancakes and eggs. And there's a flat part for sausage (or in our case, fake sausage), grilled cheese, whatever. It has a heavy glass press so you don't have to flip anything, too. I also got him some DVDs; he loves movies probably an unhealthy amount. =)
Later in the day, we went over to James' house. James is the guy he's carpooling with and working with in the armory, and the guy who recommended our apartment complex to us. He and his wife and their two kids are cool. They had his parents over, plus one of the detectives in Baltimore and her husband, baby, and brother. I think some more cop buddies were coming over later, but we left kind of early. We had an early dinner and dessert.
For the rest of the day, we pretty much just hung around. I got to talk to all of my mom's side of the family, which was nice. I called over there and expected my aunt to pick up the phone and say "Hello?" but instead, I was greeted with the entire family yelling things like "Merry Christmas!" and "We miss you!" That made me feel really good. I called back later, after they were done opening presents, and talked to everyone individually for a while, including the kids. That was nice. I also called my aunt's on my dad's side and talked briefly to some people over there.
I got the girls some new obnoxious squeaky toys for Christmas, so we also spent the day playing with them. They're so cute. Any new toy makes them go crazy. And Nalo turns into a six-month-old puppy around anything squeaky, jumping and running and barking like a nut. Penda has also started "herding" her toys, which is adorable. She'll walk around and pick up each toy, put them all in one place, then just lie down next to them. It's the cattle dog in her. =)
We originally planned to go see Marley & Me today, but we're going to go tomorrow instead. Having four days in a row to just hang out with Josh is going to be great too, since he's been working every week day since we got here.
Anyway, I really should be sleeping. I'm just having a hard time with that lately. I don't know if it's related to the move or if it's just my body acting up, but either way it's annoying. I've tried to go to bed twice already tonight. I'll go try again.
