I don't know what inspired me to do this, but I'm going to make a list of songs that I'm really into right now. Some are old favorites that I just happen to be feeling a lot lately, and some are newly discovered ones. Either way, this is what I pick out on my iTunes lately when I'm not just leaving it on random.
Hook by Blues Traveler
Download this one and look up the lyrics. I love the way it sounds and the irony in the words.
Ain't Talkin' by Bob Dylan
The lyrics are okay, but I mostly like the way it sounds. It's kind of mysterious.
All About Soul by Billy Joel
This is one of my favorite songs of all time. I absolutely love the words and I feel like he chose the perfect music to express them. This is one of those songs that makes the entire world disappear from my mind when it's on and has the ability to make me cry sometimes.
Warehouse (live from Central Park) by Dave Matthews Band
Great song, and I love the audience participation in this particular recording.
Do Something by The Eagles
This latest Eagles album is generally filled with corny lyrics and so-so music, but I really like this one song. It seems real and easy to relate to.
For My Lover by Tracy Chapman
Another old favorite. I love love love this song. It's so full of emotion and conviction.
Lights by Journey
I'm ashamed to say that I have known and loved this song for many years, but only recently realized that it's Journey (thanks to Sirius radio). I don't know why I never knew that... I mean, it sounds exactly like Journey. Anyway. Great song.
Mellow Mood by Bob Marley
I love his worn-out voice in this song. The words are believable and I admire his talent for making his songs not all sound the same. Damn him for letting himself die. He is probably the #1 dead musician I wish I could bring back to life.
Speaking of music, I'm so happy our car came with free Sirius radio. It's really cool to hear all these songs you've always known all the words to but never knew the name of the song or artist. And it's awesome for exposure to new music. I love the reggae station because, really, how the hell are you supposed to find and learn about reggae artists in this country? Hardly anybody listens to it. I mean, you could go type in "reggae" in the genre box on Limewire and see what you get back, but you have no idea who's good or popular. And may I just say that channels 14 & 15 are the best things ever? Classic Vinyl and Classic Rewind. Vinyl is classic rock from the 60's and early 70's, and Rewind is the late 70's and 80's. And while I hate when anything that was released after the late 70's is called "classic rock," they play really good music from between "classic rock" and "90's." Oh, and speaking of 90's, they have a station called Lithium that's all 90's alternative, and it's awesome. It's pretty much all the 90's songs that weren't teeny bop or rap. Anyway. I highly recommend satellite radio. That's the main point here.
Oh, and something funny. There's a little screen in our car that tells you the name of the artist on one line and the name of the song on the line below it. But if the name of the song is too long, it just cuts it off instead of scrolling or anything so you can see the whole name. Sometimes this makes for very immature (but very funny) moments in the car. Like on the way up north last month, it said "WHO'S GONNA RIDE YOU" and we couldn't stop laughing. We even took a picture of the screen. The other day, it said "I CAN'T GET YOU OFF" and the same silly laughter and picture-taking ensued. For the record, the actual names of the songs are "Who's Gonna Ride Your Wild Horses" and "I Can't Get You Off My Mind." Haha.

Yep. We took the dogs to an off-leash park. They acted like idiots, especially Nalo (who drank around six gallons of water and made herself throw up), but it was still fun. We found out Penda has a very good recall. And my mom surprised me with a bunch of new school supplies. Haha.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
What's the greatest thing that happened to you today?
Josh and I took James to the zoo. It was really great. He's my 7-year-old cousin and I usually only see him when we're at a family function, and being around that many people, especially a couple specific people, makes him uncomfortable, so he clams up and hangs out by himself. So I love when I get to see him outside of that situation because he opens up, and he's so cute and funny and smart. And I loved that he called and asked me specifically to take him to the zoo. It was a warm fuzzy feeling.

Nothing tonight, just hanging out.
What time did you go to sleep last night?
4:30.
When is your Birthday?
June 3rd.
The way to win your heart?
You can't, it's taken. =)
What are you going to do this weekend?
Brooks & Dunn with ZZ Top on Saturday with Josh, mom, and hopefully Ian. And I feel like I have something to do on Sunday, but I can't remember what it is. But if that's not the case, my Aunt Karol wants everyone to go out to Kensington or something for the day.
Were you happy when you woke up today?
Of course, I was going to the zoo with two of my favorite guys. =)
Would you ever donate blood?
I've tried four times. Twice I was anemic, once my blood pressure was too low, and last time they didn't have small enough needles for my tiny veins. But I'll try again.

To a point.

I'm not sure, actually.
Do you hate smokers?
No, but I'm surprised at how much it bothers me to smell like smoke now. I only quit just over a month ago. It really proved to me what everyone had been saying about how you don't notice how much it stinks if you are the one who's smoking.

I don't have to worry about that.
