Hanami is upon us, the news announced today that the blossoms in Tokyo are officially blossoming, they'll be at their peak around the 26th-28th (?), though I guess it's a little weather dependent. So my focus this week will be to try and figure out where to go to view the flowers. I notice that Skytree had a sakura illumination tonight, it was all ( Read more... )

Happy early birthday! I hope you'll take lots of photos of the cherry blossoms. Well, and if you go to Disney (obviously). I'm kind of curious how the merchandise at Disney would be different there!

Thank you! I'll do my best~~~

Ho ho ho Disney merchandise. There are always tons of special limited merchandise sets going on at the Tokyo parks. Some tie in with the current events/shows at the parks, some are more random. Do let me know if there's anything in particular you're curious about. I could provide info! Haha :)

I'm generally kind of curious if the merchandise is more kawaii than what we get in the US or if things are similar (which I know is hard to answer if you don't know what we get here). I'd definitely love to see if/what they have for the Haunted Mansion (that's my favorite!) :D I've only ever been to the US parks...I'm kicking myself for not at least going to Disneyland Paris for the day when I was in the UK!

I can probably snap some examples for you. I'm guessing the biggest difference in merchandise is Tokyo Disney Resort's variety of edible souvenirs. Rice crackers, chocolates, other travel sized cakes and treats in cute packaging that you can take home and share with your family or co-workers.

When it comes to Haunted Mansion, I've asked about Haunted Mansion merchandise every time I've been to the park, and they've never had any :( I have found exactly two pieces of Haunted Mansion merchandise at Tokyo Disney, and I've bought both. I brought one of them with me, because I can wear it at the park:

That makes me so sad! I was SURE Tokyo would have better Haunted Mansion merch than we do! The headdress is adorable (the Minnie one sounds cute too!) - we don't have anything like that! A few years ago, they changed over the shop outside of the Disneyworld one into a Haunted Mansion shop, so we've got a fairly decent selection, though they keep doing these annoying limited releases (I heard there were supposed to be Haunted Mansion Tsum Tsum, but still haven't seen them, so I don't know if they're not out yet or they sold out instantly, like some of the other stuff)...and, of course, there's stuff only in the parks sometimes.

Also, tsum tsum! I think the game is more popular in Japan than here? I FINALLY found a stationary set (it was kind of crappy, but at least some washi tape and page flags), but I'm wondering if there's more tsum tsum stuff there.

Any examples you can snap will make me really excited and happy :)

It makes me sad too! Christian wore a Ghost Host shirt that he ordered from the American Disney store last time we went to Disneyland, and the cast members working the Haunted Mansion got suck a kick out of it, everyone commented on it - it was great! Tokyo Disney fans deserve better Haunted Mansion souvenirs ( ... )
