SUN

Mar 17, 2016 23:18

It's bizarre to think that just a couple of days ago, I was all bundled up thinking I'd die of hypothermia during the night XDDD IT WAS +18C OUT TODAY. AND SUNNY. AND WARM. AND SUNNY. Did I mention warm?

So today I tried that thing where I do spare time stuff during the day and work stuff in the evening. BECAUSE SUN. It worked out OK, I guess, but it was really difficult to get going. Hmmmm.

First of all, remember this bleary eyed freak?

Well... I decided to go get a haircut!

MY HAIR IS SO LIGHT, I FEEL AMAZING. Hahahhaha. I've mentioned this before, but I love going to the hair dresser in Japan. Even though they are very... instruction based? They rarely seem to want to offer advice on styles/styling, they'd rather you pick a style from their style catalogue and describe in detail what you'd like done. Or maybe I've just been "unlucky" in my choice of hair salons, either way! Still good. This only set me back 4000 yen (IT WOULD HAVE BEEN MORE THAN TWICE THE PRICE IN NORWAY!!!), and it included shampoo, and massage (both head and shoulders!). I've never gotten a massage at a Norwegian hair salon XD;;;
And all the little details that make the experience different! I guess this is another example of Norwegian customer service vs. the rest of the world.

List of little things they've done at every hair salon I've been to in Japan that I wish they'd do in Norway:
* They take your coat, purse, bag, whatever, and put them in a locker/safe place behind the counter during your stay
* They provide a case for your glasses so you don't have to hold them awkwardly in your lap
* They put a warm towel on your face when you're in the shampoo chair, no awkward staring up in the ceiling or whatever
* Massages
* Continually asking if everything is OK / feels right
* No pressure to ~make conversation~

THESE TINY LITTLE DIFFERENCES JUST... MEAN SO MUCH?????! I feel pampered and cared for, and I don't have to worry about anything. It warms my little nervous heart so much!

Today I remembered to bring my camera! Have some sunny pictures!

The moon was out :O This is in Kiyosumi Park, next to Kiyosumi Garden.

Here's that highway again, snaking its way through the city. I also quite liked the effect of the billboard against the clear blue sky.

I am fascinated with cranes. And in Tokyo there are a lot of them. All sorts of cranes! Here they're doing some work on the power lines.

You could probably see Mt. Fuji if you went up Skytree today ....

Sumida river, yes, I literally just crossed the bridge, and then went back over lol

桜が咲いているよ〜!

Well, I am super pumped. Prepare yourself for lots more of this in the days/week(s) to come
