It's awards season, and for the first time I'm checking out a video game awards show. Even though this happened back in December, I wanted to see what it was like. The Game Awards. Come on bring it. Tell me what the best games of 2015 were! ..... nope. The show is SO FUCKING TERRIBLE. Ashfjksahfskajfhjkas. It makes me embarrassed to enjoy video games. Who decided this was a good idea? Who decides who wins? Why are some audience members standing in a mosh pit in front of the stage? EVERYTHING IS AWKWARD. I feel bad for the talented actors who had to make appearances to promote games. I hope they got paid a ton.

THERE WAS AN AWARD FOR MOST TRENDING GAMER! IMAGINE THE OSCARS WITH AN AWARD FOR MOST TRENDING FANGIRL. IT'S JUST ..... how can anyone take this show or this industry seriously?

Anyway.

I went to my second screening of The Hateful Eight on Sunday (first in line, whoooooop!). I've been listening to the GOLDEN GLOBES WINNING soundtrack on repeat, and I catch myself thinking about the film constantly. It has all these great little moments that just stick with you. The dialogue and set up is so well executed, it makes me smile. I'd love to see a stage version of this. If there is video of the famous stage reading, I'd love to watch it.

The thing about The Hateful Eight is the amazing build up, it gives off more horror film vibes than western vibes. It's sassy, colourful, clever, and violent.
Watching it makes me think of The Thing, and Reservoir Dogs more than say Django Unchained, or Once Upon a Time in the West.
It's also one of those films that actually works a lot better if you've already seen it once or twice. That seems to be a very rare quality these days.

It's absolutely ridiculous that this was filmed in 70mm format. Most of the film takes place inside a tiny little cabin. But trust Tarantino to use this format to do close ups of people in hats talking to each other, hahahahahaha.
It's great, though. And what amazing performances! Jennifer Jason Leigh! Where have you been all my life? I'm absolutely obsessed with her performance as Daisy Domergue, what a fantastic character! SHE SHOULD HAVE WON THE GOLDEN GLOBE AND THE CRITICS CHOICE FOR BEST SUPPORTING ACTRESS! I hope she wins the Oscar for best supporting actress, she deserves it.

cinemateket, lol, cinema 2016, gaming, the internet!
