I refuse to believe that none of you guys play Super Mario Maker. We should all get together and play each others levels~! I can't be the only one hating on all the automatic mario levels in the 100 Mario Challenge? :/ more regular levels, plz.
Anyone want to talk about last night's primetime Emmys? No? Yeah.. me neither, sort of, but let's talk about it anyway.
I thought Andy Samberg was a weird choice for host at first, but then the intro started, and it made sense. The music video inserts during last night's show were great. Perfect award show material, or at least I thought so. A lot of nice snide remarks and references. I enjoyed it.
Biggest disappointment:
Better Call Saul was up for four awards, didn't win a single one. Hopefully they'll have second chances once season two has aired, but man, that felt like a real letdown. Even Peter Dinklage acknowledged, on stage, while accepting the award, that Jonathan Banks should have won Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series.
I guess it was an awkward year, really. With so many popular shows having just had their last season this past season, it was sort of a last chance for a lot of these performances to be awarded (YET NO AWARDS WHATSOEVER FOR PARKS AND RECREATION, I'M LIVID!). Btw, was Amy Poehler doing a Pennsatucky cosplay during the Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series award? Intentional or not, she looked like her :D
My favourite acceptance speeches were Jane Anderson's (I have to thank my beautiful son *music starts playing* oh my god, bye~!), and Viola Davis'. I'm really happy Uzo Aduba got another award for her work on OITNB, but her speech came out of nowhere. I felt like I needed some context to understand where all the emotion was coming from <,<;;
Have any of you watched Olive Kitteridge? Did it deserve all the awards? I hadn't even heard about it before, I must admit I'm a little curious to check it out, but it doesn't seem like something I'd typically enjoy.
Hmmm.. what else. I don't know. I don't think Game of Thrones deserved to win all the awards they ended up with (particularly not Outstanding Drama Series), I am super happy that Veep walked away with a lot of stuff... and, yeah.. I don't know. Perhaps the awards will be a little more interesting next year when Mad Men, and The Daily Show with Jon Stewart will be completely out of the picture. Perhaps the awards will be a little less predictable. One can hope. Fucking Game of Thrones. Hahahaha. The commentators on the channel I was watching were actually thrilled GoT won all the things, they were lamenting how inclusive the awards had become, even recognising "fringe genres like fantasy, which used to be an exclusively nerdy thing"...... whaaaaatever. Wow.
