Norwegians are huge coffee snobs. We like our coffee black, and we drink a lot of it. When rumours first surfaced that Starbucks were looking to establish themselves in Norway, people protested - they did not want that sugar water infesting the city, selling itself off as coffee.
Yup.
So to really cater to their audience, our leading chain of coffee shops celebrate this snobbery every autumn with a "DAY OF COFFEE". Like... no shit. A coffee house... doing coffee? REVOLUTIONARY~~~
But it's OK. They dole out different types of free coffee beverages all through the day. I snagged myself a free coffee au lait, and it was delicious. Hooray for coffee!
In work related news, I spent all day working on a test translation that really was the most generic content ever. Results should be OK, I hope it'll lead to future projects.
I've also been in touch with a publisher to see if they needed translators. And wouldn't you know, earlier today they sent me a sample chapter for translation. I might be able to sign with them if I do well. Sounds good, and should be tons of laughs, the sample chapter they sent me is from
this book. I can't even. I guess I'll spend my weekend translating trashy romance. There are worse ways to spend your time.
