Day 10

Aug 13, 2014 11:06

Our legs are sore from walking and standing around Disneyland all day, so we decided to completely pamper ourselves today. We went to Shimokitazawa, which I guess is more or less the closest thing you get to a hipster neighborhood in Tokyo (I am probably wrong about this.... 8D).
We had breakfast at the ever wonderful Zac, which is a cafe most famous for their cakes, but we've always gone there for their lovely toast sets. so deliciously amazing.

Shimokitazawa has a lot if reasonable clothes shops (both for girls and guys), so we did a bit of shopping, and then headed for a hair salon where we both got hair cuts xD. I haven't been to a hair dresser in absolutely ages (as some of you noticed when I posted that selfie before I left for Japan). My ends were pretty damaged, and it wanted to fix the style to make my hair easier to manage. He ended up taking off about 7cm of my hair :o to someone's who's had short hair more or less all her life, that sounds like a lot. The hair dresser also claimed I would look absolutely adorable with bangs, so I let him decide and style my hair like he wanted to

This is what he ended up with:

aaaah bangs! he did a cute twisty side pony tail, it looked easy enough (famous last words), I'll try to copy it tomorrow 8D

We played some games at a local arcade. The arcades at Shimokitazawa have a large selection of music/rhythm games, the arcades are non-smoking, and the volume levels are at such a level that you can actually hear the game you are playing despite other people playing other music games nearby. This is a welcome change from the Akiba arcades where the music games usually are on floors that allow smoking, and the music isn't loud enough to counter the noise from the other games. The Akiba arcades have a better selection of fighting and retro games, though. But again with the smoking :/

We had lunch at a amazing Hawaiian pancake place. Unghhhh. I had savory lunch pancakes with salmon and avocado. IT WAS THE MOST DELICIOUS THING!

After this we headed back to Akiba where I continued to treat my tired body to nice things. I got myself new glasses, and did a new eye exam to check up on my sight. My sight has not improved or gotten any worse in two years. so I guess that is good news. I also ended up with amazingly adorable Disney glasses, so it's a complete win-win.

It's funny how I'm able to do these things (hair dresser, and eye exam) in Japan and think of them as relaxing activities. Doing the same in Norway takes a day of preparation and leads to much anxiety and worries :/ Norway, why do you suck at customer service? unghhhhh.

I found a limited edition jagarico with avocado and cheese flavor :o the potato sticks are green and super tasty!!!

Zoff doesn't play around. Look at this bag that came with my Disney glasses (official Disney collaboration). The glasses came complete with a Minnie case too!

And this is what the glasses look like :D they are huuuuuuge, but super light. I can't feel them on my face at all. I love them! I want to go to Jins and have my old glasses cleaned and maybe replace the lenses, since they are pretty scratched up. That's pretty normal, right? I mean, to change lenses even if you aren't changing the strength of the lenses? I am pretty new to this wearing glasses thing.
