I have arrived safe and well in Tokyo. The ride over started out very stressful, I had a 55 minute layover in Copenhagen, but my flight from Oslo ended up being an hour delayed ... however, since both flights were operated by the same airline, the Tokyo bound flight actually waited for me. I have never had this happen, but it felt absolutely awesome. I ran through the passport check, and made a mad dash towards my gate. I made it on, had some food, and then slept on and off for the next ten hours. The arrival in Tokyo was the smoothest one yet. No awkward questions at immigration, no wandering about the arrivals terminal wondering where the hell the post office is located, no stressing about which train service to choose, and my train left 10 minutes after I bought my ticket. Bliss! My flight actually landed 30 minutes ahead of schedule (after being delayed for who knows how long because of my flight from Oslo ... hahah). Kudos to the pilots, they make time magic happen.
Today I am a little jet lagged, but it's okay. I just got back into the apartment after a visit to
Dear Stage. Akihabara is sort of my base, my go to place, when I go to Tokyo, but I've never been to Dear Stage before. It's part live house/event space, and part maid bar/cafe. You pay ¥1000 to get in (you get a coupon for a free drink upon entry), then you can hang out at the ground floor level and check out the stage events, or you can go up to the first and second floors where there are seats with a maid cafe like system. You're free to come and go as you please. It was a very welcoming and friendly place, even for first timers.
I guess the thing that sets Dear Stage apart from any other maid cafe is that the staff working there are all aspiring idols or voice actors. So the do live shows, not just lip syncing. I had an absolute blast today, and I think I'll visit again during my stay. I might already have a favourite staff member, and I need to figure out what her name is so that I can support her :D
I'll figure out a way to post pictures that won't be annoying neither for you guys nor for me. But it'll have to wait until tomorrow.
またね!
