I was introduced to NIN by a classmate during my second year at upper secondary school. She gave me a copy of The Fragile, and that was that. I must admit I haven't really explored their discography as much as I should have - I was struggling with self harm when I first discovered them, and delving deeper into their lyrical world seemed... counter productive at the time.
For whatever reason I always figured that NIN wouldn't really work live, listening through my headphones, I couldn't figure out how they'd recreate what I was hearing in a live setting. Needless to say, I was proven dead wrong, and the show was amazing. The combination of visual effects with the live band elements and synth - indescribable. I think I just sat there completely hypnotized with a stupid grin on my face through most of the show. The lack of cyberpunk fashion and colourful personalities in the audience was thoroughly disappointing, though. Come on Oslovians, class it up a little.
I'd love to see a live DVD of this tour, the stage set up with the screen effects and elaborate light displays, I just want to watch it again and soak it all in. I'd love to get a hold of their old live releases as well, though it seems hard to come by, maybe. And probably not available on blu-ray anyway.
