Somehow I associate summer with video games. I am not really sure why, seeing as all the big hit games are usually released around Christmas, and you would think dark, gloomy autumn and winter days lend themselves better to gaming than hot summer nights, but nope.
I guess part of it comes from my gaming background, my two consoles as a kid was my Super Nintendo and my GameBoy Color. The GBC went with me on every road trip, every family gathering... I brought that thing everywhere. My childhood family vacations involved road tripping and camping around Denmark, so my GBC brought much needed entertainment to what was sometimes very long days spent in small towns or at deserted campsites.
Even now I tend to gravitate towards games that bring back the feeling of those summers, laying on my stomach on the grass or in our tent playing games.
And then I discovered Felicia Day's Co-Optitude. Or rather, I decided to give it a shot, and I ended up enjoying it a lot more than I thought I would. Here is today's episode - they play Bomberman, AMAZING MULTIPLAYER GAME.
You just watch this and tell me you don't want to pick up a controller RIGHT NOW. I dear you.

I am actually juggling a lot of games currently, I still play Animal Crossing: New Leaf every day, I play Bravely Default (which is amazing, but also a complete time sink, the dungeons and battle system is so time consuming!), Monster Hunter 3G (on both WiiU and 3DS ...), and now very recently I also picked up Mighty Switch Force 2 (3DS), The Legend of Zelda: Oracle of Seasons and Ages (3DS), and EarthBound which was very recently released (in Europe for the very first time!) on the WiiU Virtual Console. I've played EarthBound for about 6 hours now, and it's amazing. I got the sequel (Mother 3 for GBA) back in 2007, but never played it much. I am definitely picking that back up again once I complete EarthBound ... which I fully intend to do. Soon.
In addition to all of this, I still have a couple of games that I haven't really started yet ... Kingdom Hearts 3D Dream Drop Distance, Liberation Maiden, Virtue's Last Reward, and Crimson Shroud all for the 3DS ... oh, plus I am still working on my replay of The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening DX - AND LET'S NOT FORGET THE NEVER ENDING FUN OF THE MII PLAZA GAMES ON THE 3DS, THE NEWLY RELEASED PLAZA GAMES ARE GREAT AHSJKFHAJKHFAHHJAKFS.
And still there are at least a handful of titles in the 3DS eShop that I have my eye on and intend to buy at some point.
What are you guys playing currently? I know I posted about Animal Crossing a while back, not much of a response then, but just in case ... feel free to add me if you ever want a new town to visit! Leave your friend code in a comment so I can add you back. ... please tell me I'm not the only one who gets most of my gaming in during summer 8D
