Slut! Asshole!
This is not my picture, but it shows you what the Rocky Horror Picture Show screening at Cinemateket was like (thank you twitter!). I had to go straight from work to attend this, so I didn't have time to put together a costume or a prop bag, but that didn't really matter. I had a complete blast anyway. A couple of people had dressed up, lots of people brought the required props, the front row was filled with people who had attended RHPS screenings other places, so they yelled out additional participation prompts and ran up to the screen to add in other bits and things, it was great fun!
The whole event felt more like going to see a live production than a film, and we didn't even have a shadow cast. There was wild applauding and cheers throughout. It was like being at a rock show.
I would definitely go do this again, preferably with props and maybe even a costume (can't decide who I should dress up as, though).
Also to those of you who have plans of getting married, please don't have people throw rice at you as you leave the church. Birds die from eating it, and being hit with uncooked rice fucking hurts. I had rice absolutely everywhere after this screening - I'm so glad I didn't have to help clean up the theatre oh my god, hahahaha. Rice, newspapers, toilet paper, and playing cards absolutely everywhere. Awesome.
The double feature of Beetlejuice and Rocky Horror Picture Show was a great combo, hopefully Cinemateket will put on more shows like this in the months to come, I'm also hoping they'll put on more horror films in general. Bring on the fright nights!
