Come On Grab Your Friends

Despite the broken headphone jack (that's what iPods are for), I'm continuing to use the iPhone instead of my XPERIA, and I think I'll continue to do so :|

I might not be able to dangle cutesy accessories from it (of which I have way too many, halp), but customisable lock screens and wallpapers help make my day a little brighter.

Here's a selection of current annoyances in Twissland.

The Norwegian postal service has decided to close down 149 post offices all over the country (1000 people are going to lose their jobs). Our local post office (a very, very busy one) is one of the offices that'll be closed down. In fact, Norway is going to be left with 30 traditional post offices in total. 30 in the entire country.

We're going to have to pick up parcels (and send them, I guess...?) from our local grocery store. This would have been fine if it actually worked, but reality is that the grocery store is already offering post office services and it always clogs up queues and takes forever. I can't imagine what it will be like once the grocery store is forced to accommodate the regular traffic for the post office as well.

I should order all my internet wants while I still have a local post office to pick them up from ....

Another news item hits my inner film loving heart hard. Our city council has decided to sell the Oslo cinemas (meaning; they'll be privatised). Bye-bye opportunity to go see interesting films, hello Hollywood blockbuster mania and nothing but fully digitalised 3D theatres? Who knows. Only comment so far is that "we could be looking at an Americanisation of the cinemas". I'm not even sure what that means. If it means we'll no longer get designated seats or won't be able to order tickets online in advance, then adhjghjkadgjasnj. I wouldn't mind sweet popcorn, though. Or more midnight screenings. But privatising the cinemas probably means they'll also raise prices, which are pretty steep already at about 100kr a ticket ($17).

I guess I'll be going to Cinemateket a lot more.

I should go support the Oslo cinemas by re-watching both Prometheus (SO GOOD), and Moonrise Kingdom (ADORABLE, AND AMAZING, AND SWEET, AND UUUUNGH).
