Christian and I went and saw Kaizers Orchestra yesterday. It ended up being a really good show, but I was worried. They were playing my home "town". There is no real concert venue, so the concert was taking place at the community centre/library. I had my doubts about this show to be honest ...

The sound was rather crummy, but the band was in fantastic form, and once the crowd got going (which took a while, I felt so embarrassed on the band's behalf for a while), the show turned out amazingly well. The same great atmosphere and energy you can expect from a Kaizers show, I'm extremely pleased. I was so excited that I even forgot to buy a t-shirt for my ever growing Kaizers t-shirt collection on my way out ... so yes.

I also ended up in the front row - this seems to happen to most Kaizers gigs I go to, this is the 9th time I've seen them live :x It was amazing. Janove (vocalist) kept playing it up right where I was standing, and he kept flirting with the girl right in front of me, it was hilarious.

Good setlist, very nice mix of songs. Bøn fra helvete is just a spectacle to behold. Pure art in motion. It was probably my favourite song of the night. Such a great performance! It made me forget that I've actually seen them do this song live a bunch of times in the past ...

Helge (pump organ/accordion/keyboard/backing vocals++) held the most epic pause ever during Svarte katter & flosshatter, he just kept staring at Janove and wouldn't let them get on with the song. The crowd started chanting "Helge" and the chant went on for what felt like forever, until suddenly he ended the pause, and the song continued on as if nothing had happened. It was amazing.

So many hilarious little moments. Janove asked the audience to please encore our sing along version of the ending of Hjerteknuser, because he thought it was so beautiful. He got up on one of the oil barrels and just took in the sight of everyone singing the ending of the song. :D

Hjerteknuser was a big hit with the older ladies in the audience, Christian and I got attacked by some flailing 40~50 year old women who wanted to come up front when the song started ......

It was a good show. Kaizers fans suck at imitating wolves, though. Our moon howling was pathetic.

And I worry about the underage Kaizers fans, they seem to have a lot of issues and frustrations. The conversations we overheard on the train ride back to Oslo after the show ..... no words, just. Wow. I'm pretty sure I was never as angsty or teeny as that. <,<;;;

kaizers!, fandom, concert babble
