Christian and I had a lovely Sunday. The weather was still fantastic, so we went out to make the most of it. I finished my roll of film from yesterday and then some, I'll see if I can get it developed next week.
We walked up to Ekebergrestauranten, a fancy restaurant on top of a hill overlooking the entire city. We could see our apartment building from there, it was strange. The cityscape looked like a miniature play set.
We walked through the forest and then down into the city centre where I bought myself a birthday present. Simon & Garfunkel The Collection. I love Simon & Garfunkel, but I don't know a lot of their music. I realise that doesn't make sense. My dad had this one Simon & Garfunkel "the definitive best of" CD that he kept playing on repeat for our many road trips through Denmark when I was a kid. Summer after summer. It's now one of those CDs I can put on and instantly be transported back to when I was 7-9 riding in the back of our car, wondering where we were off to next, what play land or amusement park I'd see next. A kind of a bittersweet nostalgia, made more bittersweet by the beautiful lyrics and harmonies now that I'm old enough to really appreciate them. I've been meaning to check out their album releases for years, and this collection turned out to be exactly what I wanted.
It contains 5 albums and 1 concert DVD
- Wednesday Morning, 3 A.M. (first released 1964)
- Sounds of Silence (first released 1966)
- Parsley, Sage, Rosemary & Thyme (first released 1966)
- Bookends (first released 1968)
- Bridge Over Troubled Water (first released 1970)
- The Concert In Central Park (first released 1981)
Not only that though, this is also a beautiful collection. All the CDs come in individual sleeves that are miniature versions of the original LP covers. Complete with a separate white paper inlay cover for the actual CD. They are beautiful.
(it got difficult holding all of them at the same time 8D).
I'm going to spend the rest of my evening watching FIght Club and importing these beauties into my iTunes Library. It's been a fantastic Sunday.
