This has been quite a day!
Yesterday's party went surprisingly well. I was a bit worried that the groups of people my mum had invited wouldn't get along too well, but that didn't seem to be a problem at all. I think my more conservative aunt and uncle may have felt a bit out of place at times, but it didn't seem to bother them too much 8)
There was an awkward episode where he (uncle mentioned above) approached me and Christian, and just went "So~ You know that theory of evolution thing... do you buy into that?". Wtf dude. So not the place to start arguing about things like that. Ahahahah. We just kind of brushed him off, and then one of my mum's work-out buddies shouted out "WHERE'S THE MUSIC? I THOUGHT THIS WAS SUPPOSED TO BE A PARTYYYYYYY!" which naturally killed the conversation we were having. Yay. XD
I'm going back to my parent's place tomorrow to hang out and talk :) I learnt a lot about my mum through various speeches given at the party last night, and now I have openings to ask about her past :D Makes me happy, because there's never really been any real chances for us to talk about things like that before. Now I've actually got specific events to ask about.
Anyway, on to today. Christian and I went out to dinner with his sister Cecilie. Made a stop by a hardware store to buy a shovel first as it's been snowing all day long and Cecilie needs a shovel to get her car out tomorrow. Haha. Really, though the snow is insane. I've never experienced so much snow in the city centre before. Getting from A to B is difficult, and though it doesn't affect public transport too much there are still delays and a bit of annoyance.
We had dinner at New Orleans, a rather fancy restaurant in Oslo. I enjoyed the atmosphere, and the food was lovely. The portions were just right, but the price was a bit on the expensive side. Me and Cecilie had "Yo’ Mamas Beef Tenderloin" as our main course. With a name like that, who could resist? Christian ordered "Atchafalaya Basins ”Gator”" - Marinated alligator fillet served with mashed potato and sautéed vegetables - :O! We were given a free sample starter (a spicy chicken.. thing), had our main course and still found room for dessert! I ordered Mississippi Mud Parfait, which was rich and filling. They'd decorated it with pineapple chunks and bits of chilli! Interesting combo xD I've never had such a spicy dessert before.
We went home and set up Rock Band in Cecilie's apartment (she's our neighbour, in case you didn't know :P). We ended up playing Rock Band (with a broken drum kit, I might add) for 3 hours! Insaaaane. Great fun, though. We bought 2000 Xbox Live Points and then spent them all on downloading various songs for Rock Band :x Anyway, this late night playing is the reason why my post is this late, but I'm not tired and not planning on going to bed soon, so I'll backdate this to make it appear on the 7th instead of the 8th on the calendar. It's not my fault that LJ follows real world time and not Tove time. XDD
