Inspiration: Garret's infuriating speech and by esme_amelia's request.
Summary: Garret didn't think about the consequences of his little "speech."
He ended his heated speech by stepping back to Kate's side and then sliding forward in a half-crouch, prepared for the onslaught.
Aro's empty smile remained on his face as he watched Garret's posturing. "Well!" he said with levity. "I certainly see your stance! You, the Romanians, Egyptians, and Cullens have made your points quite clear!"
Garret lifted his chin up proudly.
"Kill them."
It was over swiftly. Bella, Edward, Renesmee, and Jacob were the first ones killed. With the rest of the vampires separated into small groups, it was easy to split the mass and take them out coven by coven. Some, like the Amazon coven and Benjamin, required more strategy than simply mindless slaughter. Some, such as the Romanians, fled as soon as violence broke out. Caius chased after them with Demitri and Felix. As for the wolf packs, Aro singled Sam out using Edward's memories and ripped the wolf's head clean off. With both alphas dead, the wolves lost any unity that gave them an edge. Unlike the Romanians, the wolves didn't immediately flee. Every wolf fought valiantly, and when continued fighting guaranteed death, the remaining experienced wolves ordered the youngest to flee while they covered for them before finally running off to guarantee the pups' survival. With their alphas dead and their groups predicted to splinter, Aro saw no need to chase after them. What threat did they pose to the Volturi then as things stood, after all?
When everything settled, Aro dismissed the witnesses with the Cullens as clear examples for hubris. Even if they started viewing the Volturi as despots, none would dare challenge the Volturi now. They all left quietly.
Caius, Demitri, and Felix returned with blood dripping from their mouths and hands. Their robes were torn in a few places and the only sign of any real struggle was the makeshift sling holding Felix's right arm in place. Aro gave a smirk as he noted that the sling was made from the same material Stephan wore.
When Caius approached Aro, he questioned, "What of the wolves?"
"Leave them be. The Quileute tribe is too small for the wolves' deaths to go unnoticed by humans. What matters is whether or not the inciters are dead."
"The Romanians are certainly dead," Caius confirmed.
"Good." Aro glanced at Carlisle's ashes. ". . . I'm such a fool. I should never have given them so much extra time to contact me. Obviously I need to reinforce our position. No more mercy for these mindless parasites."
