Alice smiled as she watched Jasper chase Seth around the meadow near their house. Seth’s laughter rang out as he narrowly evaded Jasper; he spun on his heel and ran in the other direction. Sadness enveloped her as she watched the scene play out.
There was a…look on Jasper’s face. A carefree expression she had rarely seen. He was happiest when Seth was around, she had noticed this. Of course, it was hard not to be happy when the young wolf was around but this wasn’t simply Seth’s feelings influencing Jasper’s. It was something bigger than that.
Seth and Jasper were facing each other now. Seth’s chest heaving as he tried to catch his breath, a smile still on his face. Jasper was grinning back at him, poised and ready to give chase again.
It was then Alice noticed. When Seth moved just a hair to the left or right… Jasper followed. It was to perfect, to in sync to be planned. They were like magnets. She stiffened just a little as the vision played out in her mind.
Jasper hugging her, whispering he was sorry. He kissed her cheek and then pulled away. She watched as he walked away, watched until he faded into darkness.
Alice blinked as the vision ended. Jasper was chasing Seth again and this time he caught the young wolf. Seth lay on the ground, grinning up at Jasper as the vampire said “Got’cha.” Alice doubted Jasper knew he was straddling Seth or that he was holding Seth’s wrists pinned on either side of Seth’s head. She giggled softly.
She doubted Jasper knew that had happened. And she doubted he knew how happy she was for him.
