I've been wanting to record all the activities of a day so years from now, when I wonder how we filled our days, I can remember. I wish I had done this when Sadie was little bitty, too, but I'll start now and do it periodically.
Today was pretty typical for a stay at home day. I had a dentist appointment this morning, but all I really missed was breakfast. It seems like Sadie sometimes focuses on one thing for most of a day... sometimes books, sometimes Little People... today was a puzzle day!
- I went to dentist, Sadie ate breakfast and I returned while Sadie watched ball movie as Daddy did dishes.
- Watched Ginger Snap song and Anastasia preview 3 times
- Read Strawberry Shortcake books and sang Strawberry Shortcake songs
- Got dressed and brushed teeth
- Played with dishes while I sorted through some old video tapes to throw some away
- Played Strawberry Shortcake games on website when I attempted to check e-mail
- Nursed
- Hid under covers and "explored cave"
- Played with teddy bears
- Played School (I totally stole this idea from twinium)
- Theme of the Week - Hands
- Made handprints
- Talked about feeling things with hands and felt different textured objects
- Read Hands, Hands, Hands
- Sang "If You're Happy and You Know It"
- Played clapping game
- Used hands to do cartwheels and toss bean bags into basket
- Played with ABC flashcards, naming letters and spelling names
- Painted patio with Sidewalk Paint
- Ate lunch - Sadie sat at her new little table
- Nurse and nap (I switched clothes from washing machine to dryer, then totally vegged in front of TV during nap.)
- Worked 24 piece puzzle all by herself 3 times
- I e-mailed some pics to Maw-Maw and called and told her to look at them, while Sadie requested a tea party and started getting out tea set.
- Played with dinosaurs - I decided to do Day in Life thing and started taking more pictures!
- Had tea party
- Did several smaller puzzles
- Read books - one was Secret Birthday Message which made Sadie want to...
- Do a secret message scavenger hunt outside
- Painted patio again
- Looked for ladybugs in backyard
- Played Ring Around Rosies around patio post which made Sadie think of her nursery rhyme book
- Read 2 nursery rhyme books and Little Engine That Could several times each in swing in backyard
- Sang songs in swing
- I made dinner while Sadie... pretended to make dinner in her kitchen, played with her dolls, played with Little People, stamped
- Daddy came home
- Sadie helped set the table, then we ate dinner.
- Went for a walk around neighborhood
- Read books
- Daddy and I made shopping list while Sadie played the piano and brought me her dolls and some puzzles requesting, "I want Mama to..." over and over while I told her that I'd play as soon as we finished the list.
- Daddy went to HEB
- Worked small puzzles
- Played with dolls... they ate, slept, we cooked for them, shopped with them, cooked some more and ate some more
- Daddy returned with groceries and a new puzzle for Sadie!
- Sadie worked new 25 piece Strawberry Shortcake puzzle with just a little help, but after all, it was 9:00, and she was getting pretty tired!
- Got ready for bed, nursed, laid down with Mommy and Daddy, rocked with Daddy... sleep!
Wow! I can't believe we do so much in a day! And mostly, I just do whatever Sadie wants to do... I don't really guide her much except things like lunch and playing school.
