Thrice, Thursday and Deftones

What a great show. Not the best concert I've been to, but definitely the most intense.

Thrice were boring, sorry to those who like them. Even their stage presence was bad, not much going on really. The singer's vocal style annoyed me, except for the growl, that was good. None of their songs really moved me either, though one sounded like it had potential. Ha, I'm such a critic.

Thursday were good, the crowd was really into them which made their set even more enjoyable. The singer let the crowd sing a good portion of their songs, I thought that was cool. Their set was cut short however, oh well, I came to see Deftones.

Anyone who says Deftones aren't good live can go choke. This show was so fucking intense. I've been to tons of shows and I've never come out of the pit in so much pain, god damn worth it though. I don't really feel like explaining why the show was so good, let's just say you were lucky if you were there, the energy coming from the band and in the crowd was overwhelming. The set was great, hopefully I can find it somewhere and post it. I stayed in the pit the whole night; there were times I felt that I really needed to get out for my own health but then another good song would be played and the adrenaline (note the pun) would take over. Memorable songs were (pretty much ones where I went absolutely crazy): My Own Summer, Around the Fur, Headup, Elite, and the list goes on. My memory isn't great as I took many blows to the head, oh and a fist to the eye.

Probably the best pit I've ever been in. However I stand by the fact that Arrow Hall is the worst venue in the GTA. You can't have 7,000 people on ONE floor without seats; to add to the chaos they don't have a T-style barrier. What this equates to is the people in the front being crushed (Chino even had to stop during MOS to help people out). Crowd surfers are selfish bastards, I hope people punch you in the balls or something. I don't mind if you maybe go up once and are careful not to hit people but when you go up like 5 times and aren't considerate of those below you, you deserve to be dropped on your head. Besides on a floor that packed you shouldn't be crowdsurfing as people have enough to be worried about (like trying to watch the band without falling) and shouldn't have to be constantly looking up to see if they have to hold up your fat ass. One more complaint: if you can't handle it, get out, don't start elbowing me in the side cause you want more space.

The night was ended by a trip to Denny's and good food was had by all.

With that I think I'm going to retire from heavy shows (local bands exempt).
