Title: Satisfaction
Fandom: Harry Potter
Characters: Ginny, Draco
Prompt: 011. Red
Wordcount:: 100
Rating: R, thematic issues
Author's Notes: Dedicated to abigail_nicole for just being cool.

He can see the blood trickling down her face from the cut on her forehead.
He stares, transfixed, at how she is so perfect with her wide brown eyes staring blankly up at him, and the blood starting to mingle in her red hair.

“Ginny,” he whispers into her ear, pressing a kiss to the lobe of her ear. “Ginny.”

He knew she would have fought him-fought as hard as she could, her limbs struggling and pushing, her fingernails clawing.

But she does nothing, and he feels satisfaction coursing through him.

She would be his, at least in death.

Title: Pure
Fandom: Harry Potter
Characters: Ginny, unnamed male, Molly
Prompt: 013. White, 014. Black, 018. Green, and 052. Fire
Word Count: 400 words
Rating: PG
Author's Notes: I couldn’t quite decide if Ginny was with Harry or Draco (which is why the character is unnamed).

He’d never liked her wearing black.

“It makes you look old,” he’d said, unceremoniously tossing the smart black dress she had just bought into the fire. He’d taken care to warn her that buying black would only serve to waste both time and money, as it would invariably end up in the fire.

“You should always wear white. Like a bride.”

She’d scoffed at him, telling him she’d hardly been innocent even when they were married, leaning down carelessly across his lap to kiss his mouth.

“I don’t think it should necessarily be innocence,” he had said, considering it. “Pure happiness, maybe. And you deserve to be happy.”

“I look a fright in white,” she had pointed out. “It makes my freckles stand out.”

“I love your freckles.”

When he died, she realized with a sort of dull detachment that she didn’t have a single article of black clothing.

All of her standard black robes had long since been thrown out, (she would have outgrown them anyway, if she’d kept any) and she had never cared to buy anything black.

She knew that she could easily order some, or just walk into a store to buy one, but she couldn’t quite bring herself to. It would have been a little like betraying him, somehow.

“Do you want them to talk about you?” her mother asked her furiously, when she came down the stairs in a dark green that he had absolutely loved.

“It doesn’t matter,” she said, and the look that she gave her mother was more piteous than tears. “He would have wanted it.”

“Darling, he’s dead,” said her mother, softening a little. “But you can’t afford to exhibit yourself like this. Go back upstairs and wear something decent. You look like you’re dressed to go to a party.”

She set her teeth stubbornly, and her mother knew it would be useless to resist.

It had been several years, and it was still hard.

It would be so much safer to reside in the dark, dull colors. In the bright, vibrant colors that he had loved to see on her, it forced her into a mood she didn’t want to be in.

But she continued to buy the forest greens, the ruby reds, until the world was convinced that she mustn’t have cared much for her husband, after all.

It was easy to miss that she avoided the whites.

Title: Hobby
Fandom: Harry Potter
Characters: Ginny, Draco
Prompt: 015. Blue
Word count: 100 words
Rating: G

“You’re stupid. And you’ll never amount to anything.”

Ginny rolled her eyes in annoyance. “And when it comes to amounting to anything, I always think of you.”

His eyes narrowed at her, and she noted a bit disinterestedly that his eyes looked almost blue. She also realized distantly that they only became blue when he was taunting her. It was almost as if it was his favorite hobby.

He opened his mouth to make some incredibly scathing remark but she brushed past him, not wanting to hear it, and not wanting to admit to herself that he smelled very good.

Title: Impulsive
Fandom: Harry Potter
Characters: Ginny, Draco
Prompt: 019. Pink, 024. Family, 058. Dinner and 062. Spring
Word Count: 400
Rating: PG

“I know what you’re doing,” Ginny said accusingly, pointing a finger at Draco.

“That’s rude, you know,” he said blithely, although he really should have been quaking in his shoes.

He was probably acting nonchalant to save face, she decided, unable to come up with a different reason why he didn’t seem to care.

“You’re asking me out because you know it’ll kill Ron if I say yes.” She glared at him. “My family is important to me, I’ll have you know.”

“Naturally,” he allowed. “I wish to be pounded into a pulp by your numerous brothers and possibly killed by your father for daring to come near his baby girl.”

“Er, yes,” Ginny said, feeling a bit uncertain now. She began wondering whether perhaps she had been a little impulsive, jumping to conclusions so quickly.

“I know it’s hard to believe, but people change after seven years,” he said lightly, flashing her a devastatingly handsome smile.

And … dammit, she did not find him attractive!

“But some things don’t. Like how I can still stare at you from across a room and think you’re the sexiest woman I’ve ever seen.”

He finished his coffee then calmly, as if he had just commented on the spring weather.

She blushed hotly, the pink flooding her cheeks.

Although he looked like he was enjoying his drink, she could swear that he kept one eye on her, gauging her reaction.

“Oh,” Ginny said weakly.

“Or how you can still freeze me with one look and still make me want to crawl over to you and kiss the living daylights out of you.”

She really, honestly wished he would stop making embarrassing revelations like that, because her freckled cheeks were going way past pink into tomato red.

“That’s… very interesting.” Her eyes began flicking towards all the exit signs, wondering which one was the closest, and how she could make a speedy, yet graceful getaway.

“So what do you say?” he asked pleasantly. He placed a hand over hers, nearly making her pass out. “Would you like to have dinner, let’s say, on Friday? I’d make it sooner if I could, but I’ve got some unavoidable business for the family estate.”

She made a squeaky noise from the back of her throat, and she guessed he took it as an affirmative, because he nodded and smiled.

“I’ll pick you up, then. Friday at eight.”

Title: Beggar
Fandom: Harry Potter
Characters: Ginny, Draco
Prompt: 021. Friends
Wordcount:: 100
Rating: G

“Friends, right?” she hears herself ask shakily and it almost kills her when she sees the resigned look in his eyes and the slump of his shoulders, almost as if he’s expected this to happen.

And he wants more than anything to be able to smirk and say that he’s never even wanted her in the first place, because who could ever want a Muggle-loving Weasley anyway?

But the words stick in his throat, because he’s always been a beggar around her, begging for scraps and morsels of her love.

If friendship is all she can offer, he’ll take it.

Title: Without
Characters: Ginny, Blaise
Prompt: 030. Death, 073. Light, 074. Dark
Word Count: 300
Rating: G
Author's Notes: Has a backdrop story, so this drabble could be extended to a one-shot or even (if I have time) a novel length fic.

He can tell that she isn’t happy.

It’s understandable, seeing as how her entire family is dead, and how she’s been yoked into a marriage with Draco Malfoy.

But there’s something different about today.

“It’s true, isn’t it, what I said? He loves you and he wants to make you happy, and you’ll never want for anything when you’re with him.” The words come out in a rush, as if he is trying to convince her, as well as himself.

“It’s true.”

“And really, you’re in the best position to do some major damage to their stance if you can change him. He loves you. He always has. He would do anything for you. It’s for the best.”

He doesn’t know why there is a sort of desperation in his voice, or why he feels the driving need to get her to understand why everything happened the way it did.

“I know.” Her voice is even and cool.

“Then why, why won’t you smile for me? Once?” His voice cracks then, and he despises himself for showing her this kind of emotion, not when he’s supposed to be stoic and indifferent.

“I don’t know,” she says, sounding weary. “When they took away my ability to grieve, it’s as if they also took away my ability to feel joy. You can’t have light without dark. It’s impossible to have one without the other. It makes sense somehow.”

They spend a moment in silence. Then she rouses herself and says, “I have to get back. Draco will probably be looking for me.”

She turns, but he grabs her shoulder before she can go.

“I’m sorry,” he says fiercely, and he means it.

The tears that she can’t shed are on his cheeks, and they mean more than anything he could ever say.

Title: Job Interview
Fandom: Harry Potter
Characters: Ginny, Draco
Prompt: 025. Strangers, 059. Food, 060. Drink
Word Count: 300
Rating: PG

“Don’t get me wrong, Malfoy,” Ginny said pleasantly. “Every time I see you, I want to retch all over your pristine robes.”

He opened his mouth to say something scathing, but she beat him to it. “Yes, yes, I know, I’ll never have anything even resembling a robe because I’m from a poor, Muggle-loving family made of filth blah blah.”

His eyes narrowed. “It doesn’t really seem like you want this job.”

“I don’t,” she said with a sigh. “I need it.”

“Well, forgive me if I don’t feel like hiring you after you manage to insult and ridicule me in the same breath.”

“If only it were as easy as that. You see, I know that you need an efficient, dependable secretary. And I’ve heard that you’ve managed to scare away all decent human beings. But I’ve always liked a challenge, so I’ve decided to give you a go.” Her sudden smile was too innocent, and he hated it that she could make him catch his breath, even now. “Lucky for you, I’m also talented at charming the pants off of anyone I wish. Strangers, even. It’s good for Ministry functions. So. What do you say?”

He hated to admit it, but she was right. He was somewhat of a nasty dragon to all of his past secretaries, and it would be a relief to know that he could rely on someone to at least bring up his favorite food when he needed it. And he knew first hand how charming she could be if she tried.

“I suppose,” he said, massaging his temples, already anticipating the headache that would occur.

“Great!” she said excitedly. “I’ll see you in two weeks.”

He could have sworn that she gave him a wink before she left.

He really needed a drink.

Title: Committed
Fandom: Harry Potter
Characters: Ginny, Hermione
Prompt: 034. Not Enough, 069. Thunder
Word Count: 200
Rating: G

034. Not Enough, 069. Thunder

“He’s an obnoxious twat,” Ginny said. “I hate him, I hate him, I hate him.”

“What did he do now?” Hermione asked, peering into her empty ice cream dish and wondering why there never seemed to be enough.

“Do? Do? I’ll tell you what he did!” And Ginny did. For fifteen minutes.

Once she actually paused to take a breath, Hermione interrupted desperately. “You know, you could just break up with him if he bothers you all that much.”

“Break up with him?” Ginny said sharply. “Why would I do that?”

“Well, every time we meet,” Hermione pointed out, “you’re just talking about the latest thing he’s done to annoy you. You may be happier off without him. Granted, he would probably walk around with a thundercloud over his head and be snarky and horrible to everyone-not that he doesn’t do that anyway-”

“He doesn’t annoy me! What on earth would give you that impression?”

Hermione opened and closed her mouth wordlessly for a few moments, then said, “Nothing.”

Later, when Ron eagerly asked about their meeting, Hermione had to let him down gently. “I don’t think she’s going to break up with Draco. She sounds pretty committed.”
