Title: Distractions
Characters: Ginny Weasley, Draco Malfoy
Prompt: 006. Hours
Rating: Very light PG.
“If you don’t get out of my sight now,” Ginny breathed out dangerously, “I will be forced to do something very drastic.”
Draco almost looked like he wanted to know what ‘something drastic’ was, but he didn’t know if it was worth it, to lose a lung or his balls or something equally important in the process.
He left quickly, and Ginny looked back at her History of Magic homework, only to realize that that all she had written so far was, “The tax cuts of 1899 were important because…”
She only had one hour to finish the darned essay.
Title: Calming
Characters: Ginny, absent!Harry
Prompt: 007. Days
Rating: G
It had been eighty-three days since she had seen him last. She wasn’t all that much of a patient girl, but she found that she was willing to wait.
It would have been altogether too sappy if she had said that he was worth it all, and she wasn’t sure that was all it, anyway.
Even if she was a little terrified deep down inside that he wouldn’t want her anymore (or that he had never wanted her in the first place), it somehow calms her always to think about Harry.
It never occurs to her that he could die.
Title: Sullen
Characters: Ginny, Charlie W., more Harry being absent and making her brood
Prompt: 008. Weeks
Rating: G
Ginny couldn’t help the scowl on her face. It had been four weeks since she had seen Harry last.
It somehow hurt that he didn’t even think to send her an owl. She knew that he was supposed to be doing secret things and saving the world, and that he was doing this for her own protection, but she couldn’t get her heart to believe that as well.
“What’s the matter, Gin?” Charlie asked, ruffling her hair, spotting the large scowl upon her face.
“Nothing,” she said, sullenly, and he suddenly grinned, wondering how best to get her to laugh.
Title: Irritable
Characters: Ginny, Photographer!Draco
Prompt: 009. Months
Rating: PG
“It’s been a month,” Draco snaps at her irritably. “Straighten up.”
Ginny glares at him but straightens her shoulders. “Happy?” she asks sneeringly.
“Ecstatic. Keep that position-No, no, stop moving-”
“You didn’t tell me to keep it that way!” she cries out, exasperated beyond belief.
“Anyone with an ounce of common sense would know to keep still!” He lets go of the camera and it hangs around his neck.
“Well, if you think you’re so good, why don’t you just take bloody pictures of yourself?”
She sounds suspiciously close to tears and Draco sighs and shakes his head.
Title: Masks
Characters: Ginny, Sirius
Prompt: 010. Years
Rating: G
Something about her haunting brown eyes makes him take a second look at her.
It has been years since her incident in the Chamber, but he can see right past through her bright laughter.
Although she likes to put up a front and pretend that she’s the same laughing child she had always been, there are moments when he can’t help but stare at her.
There is just something beautiful and arresting about the pretenses and the masks she hides behind.
He is there when she wakes up from a nightmare, and, dry-eyed, she finds comfort in his open arms.
These are, truthfully, my unfavoritest set of drabbles. The characters feel a bit flat, and the musings are, frankfully, a little boring. Eh.
Next time, though, right?
