I worry about the sticky tag a bit, however. May I ask how you will handle that part for the BP? Because I can't see it working with them (why would the engineers give them valves/spike or even approve of the idea?) except if maybe someone forced the parts on them (Decepticons?).

And potentially scarring for the BP guys, but this is a plot idea I've been long wishing for to see executed in fanfic. Not the 'they have the parts from the beginning' but where they get installed - and all the consequences, and the emotions from the BP and the humans close to them.
