*Twilight Zone music* Freaky, I've picked exactly the same prompt, and have written something similar. I love the way fandom creates similar ideas in people. That said, yours has a happier ending than mine!

Re-reading it actually made me cry, because I went slower through it. So haunting, to know that the twin's instincts were dead on right.

That loss of a chance and future is devastating.
