3. A Writing Challenge...
- Utilize 'in media res' (def: a Latin phrase for the literary and artistic narrative technique where the relating of a story begins at the midpoint, rather than at the beginning establishing setting, character, and conflict via flashback or expository conversations relating the pertinent past. The main advantage of in medias res is to open the story with dramatic action rather than exposition which sets up the characters and situation.)
- Combine the use of in media res with the format of a drabble or double drabble.
- Bonus points for the use of 2 or more of the following words: scream, explosion, rend, bubble, flake, hem, demon, hair, cavity, fair.
To refresh your memory (or for newbies), don't forget that the Wrench of Inspiration is a series of prompts to get you over writer's block or give you some new ideas you've never thought of. There are no time limits involved, and there have been some pretty awesome prompts in earlier issues, especially kinky prompts in the comments.
