Depends on where you're from. My culture tends to think anything under twenty is a bit young.

Same; depends on who you ask and your culture's expectations. It varies a lot where I'm from, although usually something less than a year tends to earn the couple a few funny looks from most people.

...And again, the same; depends on where you're from. Where I come from, it's actually illegal to have more than one wife unless it's a certain religion...but I'm not sure if that's still considered illegal or not.

Eh; we make up for it for doing a lot of the personal stuff usually reserved for marriage before we get married.

It means a lot if you're intending to make a relationship permanent; just that a lot of the original rules, like not sleeping with someone until you've married them, are going by the wayside for a lot of people. Just like it's not considered scandalous any more to share a house with the opposite gender if they're unrelated, unlike in the past.

Probably because it has to do with sex. You can sleep with anyone you want, but supposedly, most people can only really love one person at a time and do that love justice.

You just want sex, you don't need to marry them. Love them? Then you marry them, and concentrate on taking care of just them for the rest of your mutual lives.

Well...most folks these days tend to keep it to only a couple of kids, and there's not us much onus on a mom with no husband if she wants kids without a husband. So usually you marry because you love the other person. Not for kids, or rank, or anything like that. Even our leaders are chosen by vote, so they don't even have a reason to want a ton of kids for that.

...Although some people will marry for money; but it's still usually kept to one person. At least until they divorce or someone dies.
